Making a decision

Hi, I'm interested in both the Medicine, Health and Society and Mechanical Engineering majors at Vandy (as far as I can tell equally). Of course, they are both in different schools so I have to choose which to apply to because transferring probably won't work out. So I was wondering how much harder it is to get into Engineering versus A&S. My math SAT is not fantastic (730 CR, 630 M, 710 W) which has me really worried but I'm taking the ACT in Dec and doing in the mid/low 30s overall and in math and am taking SAT II Math I to make up for it and I have an A in AP Physics B. I think I may stand a chance at A&S (even if it's a small one) so I'm worried I'll just get flat out rejected by engineering.

Thanks!

P.S. If you need any other stats I can supply them.

Nobody…?

Transferring from school to school at Vandy is simple. If you are in good standing it is really a formality (except into Blair). Keep in mind that engineering has a lot of required courses and if you transfer in late you may need summer classes or an extra semester to make up the requirements. The admit rate is higher for the school of engineering however the statistics on SAT and GPA are about the same (higher for math in engineering). Try to get your math test scores up a little otherwise I think I would recommend A&S? Best of luck

Apply A&S. The switch is easy once you get here and your low math score isnt the best for engineering. Seriously, you can easily switch, nothing is set in stone your senior year of high school. Good luck.

How do you know the GPA/SAT stats for Engineering? I have a 760 in Math and 640 CR and was planning on applying BME in ENG, do you think I have a chance?

I took the SAT in Oct so I’ll be getting my score tomorrow hoping to improve CR.
