Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for colleges I could apply to. I'm searching and searching and am interested in many reaches, but am having difficulties with matches and safeties.

I will be a transfer student from HES with a 3.5-3.7 GPA and a 3.0 HS GPA (unweighted). My SATs are average (for example, CR was 640, math was less). I had a three year gap in my education due to financial/personal issues and spent that time working.

So obviously a college that is "transfer friendly" would be nice, but here are some more criteria I have developed over the past months:

In or with easy access to a city (urban/suburban), preferably with an actual campus. Would prefer to stay in the Northeast or close to it, but am open to other suggestions (except the south and far west)

Moderately sized (not tiny, but not huge... reasonable), I'm generally flexible about what I consider "moderate"

I have many interests, so a college with a flexible distribution system or open curriculum would be ideal, and a wide array of courses (philosophy, etc)

Relatively well known, with a good psychology program (perhaps neuroscience, premed)

It can't suck with need-based aid

I've looked at places such as Brown, Tufts, U Rochester, Amherst, and the like but those are reaches. Am I too demanding? Any advice on matches, safeties and even more reasonable reaches would be helpful...

Thanks!
