I kinda doubt you can find a drugstore camera with slide film of the appropriate quality and type.

But let's suppose you find a good slr camera (which allows you to set F-stop, focus, etc.), a tripod, and the right film (again, see the spex), and appropriate lighting (see the spex), you take your pictures and then take your film to Motofoto or some other store to have them develop it into slides.

ok, so if i get a regular 35 mm camera i'll be fine?
and i'm guessing i can go to target/walmart to ask them to put them in slide format. how much will slides cost? thanks again.

You will need slide film, not photo film. Some labs will charge about $10 to process a roll of 24. Not likely to be done in a one hour lab in a CVS/Walmart, but they usually need to send these out. Best if you can find a local photo shop that knows how to do them, and if you have time, see if they have a photographer who can shoot them for you with the right light, etc for best results. Costs more,
but worth it.

another option is to use a digital camera, then get slides made of the digital pictures. there are places on line for this: you email your electronic files, they send you photographic slides through the US mail.

Is there a photography or art teacher at school who can help you with this?

i found a photo shop in my area. hopefully they will help.
