Hello everyone.
I know this is a bit early to talk about appealing decisions.
But I was just wondering for future reference just in case I don't get in.lol

Is it possible to make an appeal to UCLA by choosing my alternate major (impacted..like Psychology) instead of my first choice (not impacted) saying that I have finished all my pre req for the alternate major?

(Let's assume that the only reason i got rejected into the first choice major was because I still had 2 pre reqs missing.)

I hope my wording wasn't too confusing...=0

Is it possible to make that appeal? Yes. Is it going to be an effective one? No.

People hardly ever “win” their appeals, and when they do it’s mostly because there was a mistake on the application (reported test scores, gpa, what have you) or a clerical mistake on behalf of the UC or whatever school they applied to. Otherwise, it’s very difficult to make admissions deviate from their previous decision.

I didn’t apply to UCLA so I don’t know if they let you pick an alternate major, but if they do then that’s where you select a safety major. If you didn’t get into a non-impacted major, then I don’t see why you would get into an impacted major. If people could appeal with a new major (well you can, but if they won) then everyone would do it, get in, and try and change majors back later. So, you won’t win that appeal, since that’s what selecting an alternate major is for (if UCLA let you).

You shouldn’t even really be worrying about this and putting stress on yourself yet though. You haven’t been rejected yet (and hopefully wont), so just focus on the current semester and try and relax as much as you can.
