<p>Hi students and parents: I recall a couple of years back when my first child was applying to college, someone here posted step by step directions for taking written applications (for admissions and for scholarships) and then scanning them into your computer where your child could "type" his/her responses. Does someone here have the patience to repost this "how to" for those of us who are technologically challenged? I'd be much obliged.</p>
<p>Okay, I'm so unsavvy that I didn't even pose the correct question, says my kid. The correct question concerns PDFs that are not writeable. How to copy and paste them into another program and make them writeable?</p>
<p>oh oh we learned about this in my graphics imaging class, it was called optical character recognition... idk how it works though...</p>
<p>you can probably google "optical character recognition" and figure something out though...</p>
<p>I believe you can use Adobe Acrobat Professional (the expensive one), or FoxIt Pro (i think 30-50$US). Another option is to copy the text and paste it into Microsoft Word, using the select text tool in the upper left.</p>
