Making changes to CSS profile

How do you make changes to a CSS profile to reflect corrected or updated info? My S applied ED to a university and was accepted; I filed the CSS by Dec. but our accountant then reviewed it and found a few needed changes. The CSS site says you have to print out the profile and make changes on the hard copy and send to the school. OK, but is there no way to make changes on the online profile in case he needs to send it to other colleges?
many thanks

You can make changes to it on line.
Just review each section via a pull down menu and make changes. I was able to do it that way.

Unless things have changed this year, you cannot make changes to the Profile online (you CAN make FAFSA changes online). Even if you are able to do online changes, your school may prefer that you send the changes directly to them. Call the f/a office and ask what they want you to do.

Hmmm…has the Profile changed just this year? There never has been the ability to update online in the past. radannie…are you sure about that? In the past, students have been advised to call the college. Most schools will tell you to print out the Profile and write in the changes…and then will tell you where to mail it.

radannie…you can update the FAFSA as you described. If this is a new feature of this year’s Profile, I’d love to have a couple of verifications that this is really true.

Yes, radannie et al, if you can change the CSS online, I’d sure like to know. But all I could find was the instruction to print out and make changes that way. Seems silly, but unless I hear otherwise, that’s what I’m doing.
thanks

Resoguy…call the schools and ask them THEIR procedures for amending the Profile. Does IDOC still exist? I know that when my daughter applied, schools that used IDOC got all the necessary documentation to make the changes themselves. But that was three years ago. You need to check with each college to find out THEIR procedure for amending the Profile…but it cannot be done online.

Profile will not allow you to change/update a file once it is submitted to a college. But, you can send updated info to new colleges.

From Profile faq

So just to clarify: if I already sent the Profile to one college early but want to send it to other colleges with updated info, I can do it online.

But if i want to update the info to the same college, I have to use regular mail?

^^correct!

I know this thread is old, but I’d like to know if you can go back and make changes BEFORE you submit the CSS profile? I just started going through it and don’t know the answers to EVERY single question, but would like to get what I do know out of the way then go back later.

I can’t not choose answers so I’m going to make my best guess just to be able to proceed then intend to update it accurately when my parents can give me the correct information. So until then can I just put answers in then change them later, before I submit?

Yes, you can save it and then go in and make changes before you submit it to a school.

How do you make changes to the CSS profile if it’s already been submitted to colleges? Thanks!

From what I’ve read online and the old posts here, you can’t make ONLINE changes to the CSS you’ve already submitted. Of course, this is silly and ridiculous, archaic really. To make changes it says you need to print it out in hard copy, indicate the changes and mail it to the schools you already submitted to. If you have new schools, you can send them different, update info.

Closing old thread.
