Hey everyone!

My husband and were married this year, so our FAFSA was filed using tax information when we were still single. So, my exemptions were 0 because my parents claimed me. His exemptions, on the other hand, are apparently $9,350 because he was unmarried and unclaimed.

So on the FAFSA I thought they were asking for my exemption amount, when in reality it asked for his AND my exemption amounts-- making my zero incorrect.

One of my universities said not to correct it because they would ask to see our taxes anyway and correct it themselves, the other university (a student at the office, not an actual financial adviser) told us to go ahead and change it.

So what should I do? The priority deadline for my schools to submit was March 1st, and I got the original in before that but I'm afraid that if I correct it, it may delay processing. Will my FAFSA get sent to the bottom of the pile?

Also, will his exemptions increase or decrease my EFC? We were estimated to receive about $2,700 for a Pell Grant, and I'd like to keep it. :/
