How hard is to make friends as a transfer student (transferring to Ohio University) as a sophmore?

do transfers usually have a rough time? I'm fairy outgoing.

^ No.

Mind you, I’ll be a freshman in the fall, but I’m sure the same type of things apply. Ohio State is huge. In terms of making friends, there are bound to be tons of people that share the same interests as you, etc.

Just put yourself out there. It’s a bit awkward just striking up random conversations, but no one is going to turn down a new friend, regardless who they are (and for the d-bags that are really “exclusive”/cliquey, just ignore them and find others)

You say you’re fairly outgoing. In that case: you’ll be fine

Join a few clubs that interest you, play an intramural sport, join a study group. Before you know it you will have lots of friends.

I’m pretty sure college9 was referring to OU, not OSU :)

But reading your other posts, I think that you should stick out your first year first, who knows you might make some new friends and not be able to part with them… etc.
As for making friends as a sophomore, of course it’s not as easy as it might be in freshman year because students are settled in, but you can definitely find your niche.

Hey, Im looking at OU, what do you like about it and what makes you want to go there?

Everyone is looks for friends at the beginning of the semester, just get out there!

@cbpeanut: lol oops. I totally read what my mind wanted to read there =/
Still, even OU is plenty big :D

the campus at OU is amazing… and if your going for journalism or business its a great school for both plus i hear they received a huge donation to their engineering program so that program could soon be on the incline

I hear alot of people are “antiprep” and theres alot of rock, punk, folk bands come to campus…so people there are generally the indie rock Frisbee throwing type?

An easy thing to do would be to go Greek if you find a frat for you. I wouldn’t join a frat just to make friends, but if you find one that you like, it makes meeting people and making friends a lot easier.

i dont think it should be too bad – its no different than when you were a freshman, you’ll just have 3 years together instead of 4 – like the others have said, just get out there and make an effort to be social and it’ll be no sweat at all
