Making friends

I'm currently a freshman at Cornell taking the usual first year engineering courseload. Unfortunately, as the title suggests, I've really only made one good friend, but she's in a different major/residence hall. Our schedules don't match too well. My roommate has already formed his own clique, and even though he is very nice to me, he doesn't seem to want to do anything with me outside of share a room. I only see him in the morning and at night.

And all the other kids I've met are...strange. I'm tired of randomly meeting people and finding out that I don't like their personality.

Are there any other good methods of making friends?

join a club or sport.

^^^

yes. I kind of had the same situation at first until I joined a sport I liked and where I met my best friend/house mate now.

I'm kind of in the same position as you are. Some of my hall mates are nice...try being friends with the kids in your classes? Then you'll have something in common, and can work together on problem sets...

just put out man. no but seriously, i'm a freshie too. i've got a good set of buddies so far. just be yourself and put yourself out there.

lol "put out"

Thanks everyone. I'll keep these things in mind.
