Making sure I'm on the right track

So I'm in my sophomore year and so far

3.96 unweighted (probably going to drop some due to a few subpar grades)
AP Human Geo scored a 5
APWH and APBIO in progress
National Honor Society

Yeah I really haven't done much in the way of clubs so I guess I'll need to pick up a bunch next year. I can't play sports due to leg injuries. Next year I was thinking of doing AP Psych, AP Chem, AP English Comp.

So do you think if I join more clubs and keep up my grades I'll have a shot at a top 30 or so university? One thing concerning me though is my school is straight up ghetto with a pretty terrible reputation, how will this affect me?

Wow

Definitely keep your grades up. Those are arguably the one of most important factors in your application (along with your essays). Your GPA is great. But, don’t join a bunch of clubs and organizations just because you think it’ll make you look “involved.” Find something that you are actually interested in or semi-passionate about and get involved in that. College admissions officers know when applicants just join multiple clubs to pad their app. Showing dedication to a specific EC will actually help you more. Keep taking APs and study and do well on your AP tests. Even if your school is “ghetto,” your strong AP scores will show that you are a good student. Also, you might want to start preparing for SAT/ACT. :)

I thought this thread was going to be funny :/

but you’re doing fine brah

I think Gabriel will let you know if you’re not on the right track.

^Yeah…just don’t go to any of those parties Judas invites you to…

Your GPA/grades are definitely on track. Though you really should join some clubs and get work done in them. I would say you should have a 3.7 at the least for a decent school, and you’re well above that mark!

You’re ****ing Jesus, you don’t need clubs or sports.

But in all seriousness, do you even know how they decide the “top 30” universities? (Hint, a major portion begins with s, and rhymes with ghelectivity).

Turn water into wine and cure the blind and you’re in.

If he wants to get into Harvard though, he needs to raise the dead.
