Making the minimum ACT requirement???

Fifty percent of freshmen received scores between 1340 and 1450 on the SAT (on the critical reading and math sections combined) and 29 and 32 on the ACT. Average weighted GPA was 4.47. *</p>

<p>I have a 29 ACT(one question away from a 30 too!), a 5.1 Weighted GPA, and I get my SAT scores(not expecting 1400 though) on Thursday. My main concern is my 29 ACT because their middle 50% is 29-32, so do colleges look down upon you if you get their minimum 50%? My high GPA balances out the score, and I will retake the ACT in September,but would my ACT score put me way below other people even though I make the limit(does this limit even exist? Is the 29-32 another way to say we want you to get 31)?</p>

<p>All it really means is that your ACT score is above that of 25% of their current students. They’ve accepted students like you and some that have scored beneath you, meaning they can’t say, “Oh, we’d really like you to have a 31.” Remember, to have a top half, some people have to be in the bottom half too. A 29 doesn’t make you a shoe-in, but they wouldn’t reject you solely because of that. Plus, it says that grades can offset test scores, so it doesn’t sound like you have a ton to worry about.</p>
