University of South Carolina Honors College-*Honors Admissions Information
Admissions consideration requires excellent high-school grades and strong scores on the SAT or ACT. Higher SAT or ACT scores may offset grades or vice versa. Fifty percent of freshmen received scores between 1340 and 1450 on the SAT (on the critical reading and math sections combined) and 29 and 32 on the ACT. Average weighted GPA was 4.47. *

I have a 29 ACT(one question away from a 30 too!), a 5.1 Weighted GPA, and I get my SAT scores(not expecting 1400 though) on Thursday. My main concern is my 29 ACT because their middle 50% is 29-32, so do colleges look down upon you if you get their minimum 50%? My high GPA balances out the score, and I will retake the ACT in September, but would my ACT score put me way below other people even though I make the limit(does this limit even exist? Is the 29-32 another way to say we want you to get 31)?
