i want to go to UCSD, maybe UCLA or UCB if they take me. I'd also consider UCD and UCI. I also want to try for USC, but is it viable with my current setup? thanks

I’m not sure your resume is what may keep you out of at least the top 2 UCs but rather your lowish SAT score. That fact, combined with limited ECs is not going to make you a very strong applicant at these top-tier UCs. Although your ECs are “thin” you at least have a job and are showing good work experience. How many hours a week are you working on average? If it is say around 20 or so, along with your service hous, you should be okay EC-wise. You should convert your GPA using the UC GPA formula but I think realistically you are probably looking at UC San Diego as a very high match, UC Davis and UC Irvine as relatively high matches. I would also apply to UC Santa Barbara and UC Santa Cruz if I were you. By all means give UCLA and Cal a shot, but Cal is probably out of reach and the odds are long for UCLA. Your GPA and rank are very good and that will help to offset your “lower” SAT scores at the mid-tier UCs where I think you have your best shot.

Good luck!
