Man - too many essays

I was going to apply here but the essays were just too tedious for me. Especially knowing that I had 4 more coming my way if I made it to the next level. I know that sounds lazy, but it annoyed me greatly. Anyone else feel this way?

It was bad for me, but I somehow got through them and rushed to the post office just before closing on the day they were due. Of course, the moment I get home I notice a mistake, but it wasn't anything big. I think it's just part of the selection process; only those who REALLY want to go will go through with the essays.

My younger son is interested in Deep Springs... What's the deal with the essays? Can you give me an overview of the DS app process?

From what was on the application they sent me, it seems it goes like this:
First round of three essays, each 2-4 pages, is due Nov. 15th. They said last year 200 brave applicants managed to get this done.
If you are one of the 40 lucky (or not) finalists, you advance to the Second Round of four essays plus two recs. and an interview/visit is due by Jan. 15th I think.
Then they choose 12-14 people to admit, and 96% choose DS.

Thanks for the info. Good luck, it seems like a life-changing experience can be had at DS.

SBMom, you can check out the website, deepsprings.edu, and download an application for more info....

Only 40 ppl??? what kind of college is this...

Oh well, I heard the kids usually end up in HYP afterwards
