Are there any other jobs like management consulting.

Im really interested in working with a group and using different skills on different tasks(unlike accounting where you do the same thing over and over again). The pay does not need to be too high and i would like the hours to be between 40-70, no more, and probably no less.

i hope you're really smart, analytical, and go to a really prestigious school. i interviewed with bain and co. and got absolutely molested by their case interview. consulting is probably a harder industry to break into than banking.

i go to wake forest. a solid school in absolute terms, but admittedly not sweet enough to get one's foot in the door with mckinsey, bcg, and bain on its own. i'd credit my success in that respect to my sweet networking skills and dominant stats.

ultimately, it's damn near impossible to get into the prestigious consulting firms unless you're at the few schools they recruit at, and furthermore are an absolute rockstar. to put it in perspective, all of the kids i know at mckinsey and bain graduated summa and damn near cured cancer....

Hey I'm eighteen years old and I am currently working as trainee in the management consultancy department of Deloitte before heading to college. The department consists as accountants, economists and MBAs. They do all sorts of work, the accountants do not limit themselves to the accounts but also manage business deals and help business implementations . It is very interesting work where you get to travel a lot.If you do not like traveling or you are not ready to work overtime , do not become a consultant.

Instead of looking at Bain, Boston Consulting, or McKinsey, look at the less prestigious (while still great) consulting firms. Accenture, Deloitte, PwC, and Mercer have pretty decent consulting groups, and they're much easier to get jobs with. Good luck in your search!
