This looks like a really interesting field that I would much rather work in then ibanking. Though...what are the colleges that recruiters go to most to find people for consulting jobs? I only know that nyu stern would not be a good choice.

Edit: Also, what majors are typical of consultants?

Why would stern not be a good choice?

Is it not a good choice for you or not a good choice for consulting?

I heard that recruiting is not good for management consulting there...but this may be wrong.

West coast--USC, Washington, Pepperdine and the top UCs--possibly Oregon, but their location hurts their recruiting.

East Coast--too long to list here

Midwest and Mountain states--Michigan, Northwestern, Chicago, Indiana, Wisconsin, Illinois, Emory (should I include this in the East coast group?), Rice, Texas, WUSL, Michigan State, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Tulane, BYU, possibly Utah and Arizona State and Arizona

Thanks, so basically most good schools place well? And what is the expected major...management?

I would wager that there is a huge difference among schools in terms of the opportunities at top firms (ie McKinsey, BCG, Bain) and even 2nd tier firms.

As for major, I can't say exactly because I was never involved in the undergrad mgt consulting process, but I would guess that companies are pretty open in regards to majors, and would also expect that finance majors would often have a slight edge over mgt majors (correct me if u disagree)....depending on the prestige of the mgt major at the school and the exact curriculum (ie, if mgt majors do consulting practicums this would definitely make them more marketable).
