If you are in the College, can you take the Wharton Management class as an incoming freshman?

no, management 100 is only for wharton freshmen. they register you for the course; you don't have any say in what time or with which professor you take the class. this is because they've assigned you to a team in your lecture. if you were to try and register for the class, the system might let you but the advisers would kick you out.

It's impossible for anyone to register themselves for MGMT 100. Everyone can only be enrolled in it with permission, and the MGMT 100 folks do it for you. But it is not open to anyone other than Wharton freshman the first semester.

In the spring you can try to get into the class but I think they prefer to have upperclassmen since that is with transfer students.

Ok, thanks...Let me get something else straight about the Wharton curriculum. It is my understanding that Wharton freshman always have done both econs, math 103 and 104, management. What else do they take the first year? Do they move on to accounting and statistics in the spring, or are those generally sophomore year courses for Wharton students?

They move on to Stat if they are finished with Calc, but they do not take finance or accounting until sophomore year.

Other freshman courses: everyone pretty much does OPIM in the spring, others take LGST 101 or 210.

aside from wharton-specific classes, often first semester whartonites take a foreign language class, and a writing seminar. however, you can essentially take whatever you want, but thats what i did, and thats what many of my friends did as well.

my schedule first semester:
calc 104
mgmt 100
spanish 140
writing seminar
econ 001

next semester:
Stat 101
Opim
Econ 002
a Polisci class
a Film studies/Global Environment course

my last two courses are both basically electives, so I'm savin legal studies for next year.

Ok, and the OPIM is also a Wharton class not open to College students, correct? I read that College Students are only allowed 4.5 cus freshman year? So therefore as a College student, I could not take 5 classes? What constitutes a half credit? I know this is jumping the gun a little bit, but I'm thinking about doing a dual degree and, as a varsity athlete, it's going to take some serious planning to get done in four years.

That class blows...just finished it, it was like Social Skills 101/How to create unneeded drama in relationships. The profs have good intentions, but the class is just total bs. Oh, and unless you're a class clown (like me), make sure u bring a suit to Philly.

Rocky:

The CUs thing is true. Usually labs for science classes are .5 CUs. You can get an increase from your advisor, though.

Anyone can take OPIM, although I don't necessarily know why you would want to. It ends up being very helpful in the long run, but it is not pleasant while you are actually going through it.

What makes such a class unpleasant?
