Managing APs? OMG..

lol, now ur crazy. Too much of a perfectionist. Not into people like that.

Whatever suits your fancy.

like how many would be OK # of APs to take in one's high school career?

I'm taking 9.
My school district has a grant so if a student gets 3 or above you get 100 dollars. I only have to pay 35 to take a test also.

So, I'm just trying to make some $$$. =)

I took 4.5 over my high school career. I think 4-5 is a good starting amount for a minimum # b/c it shows colleges that you at least tried to take a couple AP classes per year and didn't just slack.

But then again, I know people who got into Big 10 schools who didn't take any AP classes at all.

But then again, I know people who got into Big 10 schools who didn't take any AP classes at all."

they must have had extenuating circumstances, URM, kickass essays, etc.. you know..

Im planning only 3 right now for junior (APUSH, APES, and AP spanish). I told my history teacher to also sign me up for AP ART History, but she said "it would be tooo much."

Um.... there's reason WHY i decided NOT to take HONORS EURO LIT....

Anyways, If I get lucky, I will have 4 APs to take in Junior.

In SENIOR YEAR, I'll probably take the following

AP English (rare though, since I would need to ACE Regular Euro Lit)
AP Govt (gotta ace APUSH)
AP Bio
Any others? I don't know.

um no, they jus had good grades, solid GPA's of 4 or more, probably did extra-curriculars to help with the lack of hard classes, etc. No extenuating circumstances.

And while you're at it:

take AP Econ(micro or macro) senior year lmfao.

oh .. no extenuating circumstances?? i think it's pretty rare to get into top colleges w/out AP classes

maybe 1 AP class, I forgot about AP U.S.

But probably 1 was the least for some people who still got into Big 10 schools.

Remember, Iowa isn't a tough school to get into with their admission standards, so people who don't take AP's can easily get into Iowa.

I'm taking 4 this year (Lang/Comp, US History, Chem, Art History), and either 5 or 6 next year (Lit, Gov, Bio, Calc AB, Japanese, and maybe Psych... will prolly drop psych for film studies though).

I go to a public school, so it's probably not as hard as private schools -- but I also live in Fairfax County, and our public schools are notorious for our UVA-bound kids, haha. Courseloads depend on the teachers but with the exception of Chem, nothing is really that hard. Chem is pretty hard but if you're naturally gifted at chem/math you'll do fine.

im not a math and science person, so Adios AP Chem, AP Stats, AP Phys.

Mine's a public one too. But it doesn't feel like a public school. It's so competitive. Many students are ambitious and try to get the highest grades.. from what i've heard, this school sends about 20 students to UCLA, and others to top ivies and top public schools.. omg.

it's an uber competitive atmosphere. Worse, since Im asian, competition is harder for me, since about 95% of asians are math-science oriented people, and IM TOTALLY NOT THAT. these guys are able to double on math, even TRIPLE in science, the other way, or whatever way/idea, but their schedule is math/science packed,, so harder for me..
this school is known to be the most prestigious and hardest in the district. I say my school's name, and the first thing people say is "oh you must be working very hard.."

anyways,i hope to get both signatures for APUSH and APAH

my school is also very competitive, a public school, and one of the top 3 or 4 in the state of Illinois.

My graduating class has people going to Harvard(a few), Yale(1 for sure), NYU(1 for sure) among others. I have a 3.72 GPA and am only in the 68th percentile of my class. That tells you something about my school.

y'all put me to shame
I took 4 AP classes this year. Made all A's. And didn't do very much studying/hw : (

i took 3 soph, 6 jr, and 7 this year (if you count the diff semesters of econ and govt separately; 6 at one time though). i've managed all As, except for one B 2nd sem. jr year. i'm probably going to get a ton of Bs this semester, but who the heck cares now? oh yeah, after soph year, i had a job after school.
i go to a competitive (it is at the top of the class anyway) public school, the type where everyone's parents pay for all sorts of test prep...

Annn: ditto.
my school's not very competitive.
how to deal with APs? .. mm.. bs? lol. time management.. you dont need to memorize every freaking thing. O_o

i agree with theoneo

love your teachers, love your classes.
=)

APUSH, AP Art History = tough memorization.

lol......

I took 2 AP's sophmore, 6 IB junior, and 7 IB and 2 AP senior.

I have 18 exams this may. AP exams are a breeze compared to IB, atleast from what I've taken.

It really isn't that bad to be honest. If you take the class you should be able to get a 3+ w/o study.

oh wow, now this makes me feel take AP Art History too
