Did anyone receive this email? I just received it but it seems shady because when I read about this at Anteaterforum not all people received this email? plus, this requires us to enter our UCI ID & password.

Here's what the email says:

Dear Student Anteater,

On behalf of the Faculty, Staff and Administration here at U.C.I., I want to welcome you to our campus. We hope that your tenure here will be a very productive, interesting and fun experience and we want you to take full advantage of all the resources this institution has to offer.

Engaging the campus community and availing yourself of the opportunities offered here will require you to make some important decisions. Among those decisions, like many of your first year student counterparts, you will be confronted with choices about alcohol consumption.

Most students at UC Irvine make healthy choices about alcohol. We want you to know the facts about alcohol as well as sexual assault. It is important that you understand our campus's policies about both of these issues as well as resources that are available to serve you should you experience problems. UC Irvine is mandated to ensure that all students receive this information. Therefore, we are asking you to complete a web based educational program. The course can be found at http://shearwater.vcsa.uci.edu/saaawit/ Please complete this course by November 1, 2006. The course should take you less than one hour to complete.

Please note that at the end of the tutorial you will only receive credit for your completion by registering with your UCI Net ID. You will need to do this at the end of each of the two sections to receive credit.

Best wishes for as you embark upon your undergraduate career!

Sincerely,

Thomas A. Parham, Ph.D.
Assistant Vice Chancellor
Counseling and Health Services
Director, Counseling Center

I also got the e-mail. I remember UCB kids had to do it over the summer. I'm really angry UCI didn't send this earlier. I'm pretty sure it's authentic. Isn't it requirement for UC students or something?

well the email address that was used to send to us is the same one thats on the uci health site, and for others that said the site is crappy i think it's meant to be taken lightly like oh its just a stupid test not like its gonna help anyone you know so thats y it doesn't look that professional.. i guess the vice chancellor is way behind on his/her schedule. gosh, do ur job right for once

someone on Facebook called Irvine about it. here's her post:

Thank you to Wilson Kin, I called the Health office too. (949-824-9355)

The lady said this is the first time they heard about students worrying about the course, but it's completely legit. They just sent it out yesterday so don't worry if you didn't get it yet.

About the Vice Chancellor's email being different than the one listed on the uci website, it's because they don't want the vice chancellor being questioned too much if students begin to email him. (hmm hmm)

The email login at the very end is normal.

I asked pretty much what you guys worried abuot a while ago. The lady sounded so surprised because we're calling in to ask about it. haha.

If you don't believe it, go call =) hahaha I hope she doesn't get annoyed later on when thousands of us are calling in.

hahha sorry I started this topic. the paranoia on AEF was contagious

i finished it yesterday when i got it.. it's really easy. mostly a bunch of reading and some questions here and there. if you dont get the questions right, no biggie.. it just tells you you're wrong and then you just find the right answer
