Mandatory Community Service by School?

Hi, I'm an international, so forgive me if this question sounds absurd.

Just one question, does community service administered by my school count as community service in the application forms?

For example, my school required seniors to go to a poor public school to tutor a group of kids every week for around 2-3 hours, which would sum up to around 100 hours for the whole year. But it was practically part of the curriculum and the transportation and match-ups were provided by the school. Since the application form usually says Community/Volunteer Service, I'm not sure if this counts since it practically wasn't voluntary at all.

Help! :D

Yes. You could count that as community service. My kid’s school in the US required X number of volunteer hours each year.

Lots of high schools in the US require community service hours to graduate - I think the number is now 75hrs by the time you graduate in our school district. And yes that counts.

Hurray! I thought I was gonna leave the community service part blank. Thank you guys, That probably increased my chance by roughly 1%! (huge feat, imo)
