Mandatory swimming test...

I heard that freshmen have to take a mandatory swimming test at Emory. Is this true? If it is, does anyone know what it consists of?

It was a requirement when I graduated in 1984, but is no longer required.

are you sure? when I went to visit this year, the adm person said that you have to show that you can swim before you select your classes so that if you can’t swim they’ll place you in a special class…

Unless this is a new requirement this year. My son is a current sophomore and has never had to prove his aquatic prowess.

There is no swim test.

***??? A swim test? Maybe for PE classes where SWIMMING IS A MUST, but for just choosing classes that is ridiculous. ROFL, still can’t stop laughing about this… =)

so there is a swimming test for the PE selections? how does that work?

i was at oxford a few months ago and my tour guide said that all incoming freshmen had to take the swimming test?

[Oxford College - Aquatics Placement](http://oxford.emory.edu/audiences/current_students/Academic/academic-success/choose-courses/swim/)

???

so is it only the oxford students that have to take a swimming test?
