Mandatory versus Optional Coop Schools

Someone posted this here on CC today. He attends an unnamed school where coop is optional. Some say that you can do coop, especially in engineering, at many schools and that there is no need to go to a school like Northeastern or Drexel. This student’s fears are common when it comes to doing an optional coop. At Northeastern coop and other forms of experiential education are part of he campus culture.

Awesome post. Besides the culture, Northeastern students get hella counseling on co-op. After less than three months here, I have been at ~6 different information sessions about co-op without even going out of my way. It’s normal, it’s expected, and the staff makes sure we are damn comfortable with the prospect well before they send us off.
