Manhattan College class of 25

Yes Manhattan is top choice, only waiting on one more decision which comes out end of month. Wonder if they are going to do in person accepted student days. I know other schools (Marist) have already started.

I don’t know for sure but I think it should be in person accepted student days. They had in person classes in the fall. They had in-person tours in December. They mentioned inviting the engineer applications back in person to tour the new engineering building.

Please let us know where your son decide to attend later.

Yes, she is dorming there…we are in Orange County NY so not too far but she will live there

@JWalk - We received the financial aid package today in the mail.

Hi. Thanks for reaching out. My daughter’s got hers too…I thought it was odd. There was no mention of the merit scholarship that she was awarded in the acceptance letter…she will have to call them

I think my son’s showed up on the Grant side on the right. The left side for merit scholarship appears to be for State and outside scholarships.

I thought the terms to keep the scholarship were different between merit and financial aid. I thought Merit Award was 3.0 and need based 2.5 to keep the scholarship. Odd that they called it Merit in the acceptance letter and listed it under Need - Based Grant Aid in the Financial Aid letter

yes

My daughters is listed as a trustee scholarship under the heading of Gift Aid.

My kid got accepted with the Trustee Scholarship: $38,000. Majoring in Chemical Engineering with a SAT score of 1510. Those of you who got the Engineering Scholarship later, could you tell me how much longer they took to send that after the first merit award? We’re seriously considering Manhattan.

@mshk20 - congrats! Will your child be dorming or commuting?

dorming, so it’s an $800 deposit. Just want to be sure that’s the max money they’ll give before enrolling her :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I read that one student a few years ago received an engineering scholarship and received notification mid Feb.

So your daughter pretty much decided on Manhattan College. That’s wonderful. We are still waiting for a couple of college decisions but Manhattan is on our short list.

Ahh she received the acceptance packet on 24th February. Here’s hoping :crossed_fingers:

Let us know if she receives the engineer scholarship!! Hope she gets it.

I’ve spoken with the financial aid office and they indicated the initial scholarships were more generous than in previous years and they are not giving out specific “school of…” scholarships. You should give them a call to discuss.

thank you! I’ll do that.

Do you know if they give full tuition scholarships and whether they match merit scholarships from other colleges?

I’m not sure if they give full tuition scholarships. From what has been posted here, it’s about a $6,000 gap between the largest merit scholarship ($38,000) and tuition ($44,420). I would reach out to the financial aid office, or if you have an established relationship with your admissions officer, and discuss an appeal…it can’t hurt to ask. Good luck!
