Can anyone tell me more about this school? Is it well-known? How does it compare to Fordham? I was thinking about applying to Fordham but it seems that Manhattan College offers a (cheaper) alternative and is also located in the Bronx.

Can anyone tell me about the reputation of this school?

Yes. Manhattan is a well respected Christian Brothers school. It has a superb mathametics and science department I understand. Yes its a lot cheaper. Its not well known outside the northeast or greater New York area, but it is a fine school. People that go there seem to like it. Its in Riverdale, an upscale and pictoresque section of the Bronx overlooking the Hudson River. People from Manhattan College often socialize with Fordham kids. Manhattan plays basketball, but no football.

If finances are a major concern and limitation, then it is a very viable alternative to Fordham. But like Fordham you will work your rear end off.

Finances are a major concern, although I would probably receive more financial aid at Fordham I would think (since I attend a Jesuit high school). Do you happen to know anything about it's business programs? Particularly the reputation it has (or doesn't have) with Wall Street? I know Fordham business school is widely respected in NYC circles, can the same be said for Manhattan College?

I dont know for sure. But the overall reputation of Manhattan is that it is a rigorous and respected school...a little gem that is not well known nationally. The thing to do then is to ask Manhattan themselves and inquire how many of its graduates work on wall street. Or get into prestigious MBA programs, which is really what is required anyway, such as NYU, Columbia and Fordham. You could do Manhattan undergrad, work a year say and then go to MBA.
