I will be a senior at Mville (as we Manhattanvillains call it) and you are in luck because i have a lot to say about the school. First off I like it there a lot. I wanted a small liberal arts type college and thats what i got (great professors, small classes, nice campus). However, unlike a Bowdoin, Skidmore, Hamilton type school, Manhattanville has students from a more diverse background (both socio-economically and racially) also SATs some kids have 1400 all the way down to 1000..but majority are in the 1100-1200 range. This diversity has its benefits (the class discussions are more interesting etc.) but it also divides the student body as students tend to gravitate towards those who come from similar background rather so you dont necessarily become friends with these people unless you make an effort to..and many dont. You can get all the facts about diversity from the brochure lots of international students and plenty of kids from CA and other states but like most colleges the majority are from NY and CT..The campus is really nice and lots of new buildings are planned to be built in the near future. As for location, purchase has nothing in it..there is a nice little bar right down the road from school and SUNY Purchase (State Univ. of NY) is less then 2 miles away (but we tend to stay away from there and they stay away from us)..the real off campus stuff happens in White Plains which is like 5 min away from campus by bus/car. With that said there really isnt anway to go by walking but Mville provides a bus service into white plains. White plains is a nice little city, lots of great college bars, pool halls, malls and the train to NYC (25 min ride to Grand Central)..also the caf. has great food (better than any college food ive ever had) the finanical aid is awesome..

Thanks for the information! I've always loved this school, and I wish it would get the recognition it deserves. :p
