Many have said to me forget Princeton it does not prepare you for the Future!

I have been told look at MIT, UPENN, Havard, Yale..... but Princeton? They say not much innovative is happening there in design or science or the combination - they say its just a solid liberal arts school and if you want to dive into the future just forget it. They claim technology and communication centers are just not there....... Obviously regardless of your chosen field these areas of interest are future oriented. Your thoughts everybody?

Are you a student or a troll like Byerly?

If you are a student you should go where your heart is. NJ is not the right place and you should not apply to Princeton. Your posts suggests that you have serious doubts about Princeton. I very seriously doubt your judgement when you consider Yale or UPENN as an excellent school for sciences. You should visit www.campusdirt.com and compare the schools you are interested in. Here are some data for Harvard and Princeton:

catagory, Harvard rating, Princeton Rating (5 highest)
Student Life, 4,5
Campus, 4,5
Professors, 4,5
Curriculum, 3, 4
Athletics, 3, 4
Computer Technology, 4, 5

Look at the COHFE data for student satisfaction, data for student debt, data for minority enrollment.

Troll. Clearly. I have been following these posts. This is the silliest thing I have read in a while. Genomics anyone? Integrated science anyone? Creative writing anyone? Dance anyone? Geez.

Tell me, Alumother: do you consider yourself, or the excitable Simba, to be "trolls"?

Or are "trolls" only those who express views (sensible or silly) with which you disagree?

You should know. You and Kathy are the perfect example of trolls. Trolls are not the ones with whom we disagree. Trolls are the ones, who start sensastional threads with ulterior motives. Trolls often disguise their hatred for something by asking seemingly legitimate but unflattering questions. Such an intense dislike for something has some psychological trauma and low self esteem associated with it, for example past rejection.

No, I do not consider myself a troll. I do not go on Harvard or Stanford boards and start threads to put those schools down. For crying outloud - Princeton, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Duke, Yale or Harvard are the top of the top schools.

And will you be successful after attending those schools? will you be a better person because you went there? will you make an impact in the world? will it be worth spending thousands of $? Not necessarily. What you become depends entirely on how you take life's journey. Look yourself in the mirror and see what you have become - your only goal in life seems to be spreading innuendos about something you dislike, and in that process even the kids beat you up (remember zypher and f.scottie and countless others)

Of course none of your own posts meet this test, because the hatred is not "disguised" - right? LOL!

You right on that one - my hatred towards you is not disguished at all.

Actually, I pity you.

Kathy, I don't think you need to worry about Princeton.

disguished....?

Byely, anyone over the age of... 20? on these forums who's not a parent or an adcom really needs to get out and smell the roses once in a while. That you got into Harvard should mean that you do interesting things with your life, not that you have a mental crutch to fall back on if you become a mediocrity.

Good luck in the interview. And don't worry ... they'll call you if they haven't already. Apps are still being processed.

troll is the worst cut down that is only used by losers who spend all their time on the computer and never getting touched by girls or having fun

"just a solid liberal arts school"

u.s. news undergraduate engineering rankings:

Good luck with the ED application, Your Lordship!

Wow, I'm surprised the admins have allowed a flame war like this to survive. I sort of expected user conduct to be better on this forum.

my thanks to you humble servant ***** of harvard

yeah byerly needs to leave this forum

Hope things work out at YALE, Matt.

hey, comeone give Byerly some break.

His comments are really interesting, and nothing pumps life in a forum more than a comment by him. I do appreciate all the time he spends on this forum. He also always has some cool sites/books/stats to backup his claims with (which I still don't buy most of the time)

So yeah, let's make the crimsons/"the others" feel more welcomed here...

Anyone who regularly comes on this site to say something just to disgust everybody have no life

Look at the post of trolls. they usually add no value whatsoever to the board and only serve to make people angry. Typical trolls like to check back on their posts as often as possible to see how many people they have annoyed. If they see that they aren't getting enough attention, they roam around to other parts of the forum and try to get attention there. The best way to get rid of a troll is to ignore them completely.
