I intended to apply for Winter 2007 to a specific UC campus and I've just learned that it will be closed for all of the transferring students who did not sign a TAA. The decision came only one or two weeks ago, meaning less than a month before the filling period.

I am aware that they could have had rejected me any time, despite my 3.88 GPA (after 53 semester units), 4 quite good SAT's and - of course - the TOEFL, it is their right to choose younger people or smarter people. But to deny me the right to apply and make me wait till the next fall?

Is any of you in the same AWFULLY frustrating situation?
Do you have any ideas?

just about all UC campuses are closed for winter/spring ... most of the time without a TAG/TAA.

it shouldnt be that surprising.

Well, in this case it is my fault.
I should have been more careful.

check out pathways, some campuses will be accepting applications maybe for spring, not necessarly winter.

Merced and Maybe RIverside ...

UCLA engineering is open for winter/spring

sometimes certain programs maybe open.

UCB will be closed most likely.

Also, i dont which UC you were intrested in, for spring its not to late to sign some agreements... for UCSD i think the TAG deadline is still coming up.

Can you go against it and still apply without the TAG?

I mean several of my friends applied to UCLA without meeting the minimum GPA requirement (3.25) and both got in...

Is this a similar scenario, where you can go against their wishes but still somehow get in?

No, what happens when your application arrives they just will not send it to the school b/c the school isnt accepting the application, b/c they go to a processing center.
and then they will give you back your money and stuff for that appicaiton.

unlike the other problems, like low gpa, or not having preq done, thats all reviewed with your application at your school, .. reviewed by a comittee so they see your other record and then can make judgments accordingly, thats why sometiems people get away with not having all 60 units done or something to that effect.

its kind of hard to get your app looked at when the processing center just sends it back.

i know b/c i send in one to Merced, during a paranoid moment when i though i wouldnt get anywhere, and i just got a letter back saying "merced is not accepting any applications for this semester" we will refund your money blah blah blah.

^ I think Merced was just trying to use reverse psychology. We all know they want anyone they can get...

I have to admit that the idea of sending (any way) an application passed through my mind. Naughty idea.

What Malishka31 says is very reasonable, therefore I will behave with responsibility and I will not send any application.

Probably there is no point in going to the campus and talk with some counselor, either.

Thank You Malishka31 and CardinalFocused for the informations you gave me.

From what I read on their website, it looks like UC Santa Cruz will be open ( FOR NOW). I will apply there (maybe they will accept me?) even if I have a very serious distance problem.

what you mean serious distance problem? Like from family and friends?

last year SB was accepting apps for winter.

riverside is taking applicants for winter, along with ucsd with tag only, davis with tag only, ucsb and ucsc
