Maple Hill East/West

How hard is it to get into Maple Hill East/West as a freshman? My son’s shop n swap date isn’t until mid May.

Mckinneymomma,

In the past, Maple Hill was relatively easy to get into due to it being one of the more expensive housing options, but its popularity was growing by the time I left and the freshman class size has increased a bit since then, so unfortunately I can’t offer any assurances. I would recommend a quick call to University Housing- they tend to have a pretty good handle on the number of students that have indicated interest in specific residence halls on their housing contracts and can normally give you some idea whether you’ll be able to get into your first choice by shop and swap time. Their number is 479-575-3951. May is a middle of the pack shop and swap date though, and Maple Hill is a big complex, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed for you. Is there a specific reason you were looking at East/West and not South? South is slightly newer than the other two and they updated a few things about it (primarily floors and lighting) based off experiences with East/West, so it’s my opinion that the rooms have an even slightly nicer feel to them.

If Maple Hill isn’t available, you might look at Futrall (which is the old style layout, but will be all Freshman and has been renovated with the same furniture and floors as found in Maple Hill, and new bathrooms), and depending on what they have open for freshmen at the time- the NW Quad, another suite style dorm but with individual bedrooms and a more apartment style layout, and Gregson, a traditionally upperclassmen dorm, but one with generous sized carpeted rooms with modular furniture, nice common areas, and a prime location.

Good luck!
