March 10th Decisions new Board

He only applied to the 3 in the end.

I think everyone is learning today. Every year is different and I think the schools didn't even know what to expect. It's interesting to see people getting into one top school and not others. Back in the day it was not so odd to get into them all but it's now like HYPSW. W is Wharton which needs to be on this list as it's probably harder than Harvard now. Wall Street is in vogue again. Seems to me that boarding schools are in vogue again too.

The is a big element of luck not to mention connections in this game. Do not let your self esteem become involved!!

Anyone have any hard data like # applied and percent admitted? If this board is any indication schools are waitlisting more kids. Is it like Yale where 95% of those not accepted EA are waitlisted or are they true wait lists? Guesses?

He didn't apply to Andover?

Congrats to your sister, blahlala!

I'm kind of feeling that all the schools waitlisted candidates they weren't sure about. I thought I had everything on paper for Choate, but maybe my essay wasn't that great.

And suze... NOTHING has arrived from Andover. The UPS truck came in earlier, but nothing for me. I live in Florida - does that affect it? I'm so confused, because someone said WLs/acceptances came on the same day. I hope I wasn't rejected.

i applied to 3 schools: deerfield (top choice), SPS (second), and Choate (third)
I got in to deerfield and choate, but got waitlisted at SPS--im still trying to figure that one out! i mean, how can you go wrong with a 2376 ssat, straight As at a private schools, and tons of extra curricular things (4 languages!)
??????
well, i guess im going to deerfield!!!!

You have made a dangerous mistake, pumpkin, trying to understand or peer into the mind of an admissions officer. It is a strange, sometimes unfair place. Congratulations on your acceptances, though. I'm glad you got into your first choice!

thanks--and yea, i get the admissions thing is crazy....
but i know that i'll be happy wherever i go.

That's the most important thing to realize, right there. That you'll be happy wherever you go.

thx you tom

Welcome !

Sorry it's taken me a while to post. Congrats to all who got into, and my condolences to those who were waitlisted/rejected and are disapointed. As I wrote on another thread, you are still the amazing people you were before 9:00 a.m. this morning, and should be happy with yourselves. :)
I got into Andover! I'm really, really happy. I hope to see you there, Tom! I also got significant FA. :) I haven't gotten any other news, but I'm not going online for decisions. Waiting for my other seven letters until Monday.
Congrats to all again! :)

Congrats J!!! :D

If I applied, I could not resist not going online.

Congratulations, prettyckitty! Is it your first choice? Do you plan on attending?

good job, prettyckitty! it's really no suprise.

Many congratulations pretty! I, too, hope to see you there!

blair, what happened with your schools today?

Jonathan, that's a double negative, which is a positive ... which means you couldn't resist NOT going online. Is that what you meant? ;)

Ah, don't get all nitpicky on grammar, olivia! :D

Yeah.. sorry. I'm not even bothering to check my posts for mistakes. lol.

Sorry, I think it's a depressive reflex. ;)

I really, really like Andover, but I'm not sure of my first choice. It will depend on revisit days and the rest of the decisions.
St. Mark's just call and told me I was accepted! :) They sent the letter today, so I'll get it on Monday. It was really great of them to call.
