March 10th SAT Discussion

for the uses of the word patriot was it sarcastic? literal? I had no clue

im sure it was more literal

Lobgent, you're correct.

i said sarcastic.

I got No Error for the King one, there is a very similar sentence (almost identical) in the blue book and it was no error.

What did you get for the Henry VIII correcting error sentence? My friend got "No Error," but I said that the "was" incorrectly modified the "religious matters." Verdict, please?

i did not put no error. i think i said B?

lobgent I said no error because I thought "was" modified the "the independence" of religion matters...

Did anyone have the experimental writing section...which one was it?

the sunday "patriots" are not described as being patriotic so it's sarcastic. but the patriotism in the question is real; they are talking about people concerning themselves with the founding fathers. the question just ask if we are taking it too far. this is why i thought it was more literal.

NO ERROR, if anything I was thinking independence should be indifference, as college board loves the principal/principle affect/effect etc. It was one of the few NO ERRORS

Oh wait, sorry. I was thinking of another question. I actually put "an independence," since it's unidiomatic.

Poorly described..lol
Umm it started off with an archaelogist who was grungy and a "well-groomed" reporter came in..the archaelogist talked for a long time about how she wrote popular work but only b/c it wasn't scholarly..was outside of the circle of the other archaelogists..
then she goes on to talk about the photographer who doesn't know how to film her b/c her face is cracked and line..then how schocked the reporter is..last line was "I'm crazy. I don't think she believed me?"

OKayyy so did anyone have that one?!! it was the only CR section that wasn't easy, so I really wanna know.

aaa12321 - same here.

wait no. i think i might have said no error for this one actually.

yeyeyeyeye Duper..i recognized that one too! The question was similar to one in the blue book, only with different wording. In the blue book, it was E, so i put that here too.

No, it is fine...it is the DO, perfectly correct, it doesn't need a general article.

harvard - that section must be experimental.

yes "an independence" does seem awkward but I couldn't pinpoint exactly what was wwrong, hence the no error... I only got 3 NO ERRORS on the entire 35 q section

harvard....it's experimental

i said no error

It should also be known that a relief (from the desert question), in art terms, refers to a sculptural design on a wall--similar to the heiroglyphic carvings on the tombs of egypt's pharoahs

did anyone get sarcastic for one of the cr questions about the "patriotic" pundits on sunday tv? and wry observations for sumthing?
