March 10th SAT Discussion

I had 4 cr sections, but I dont remember the whale passage...can anyone say more about what was on that section?
or elaborate more on the whale passage?

Hey guys, you know the question in the Chinese girl passage which asked something like what was the pattern in the first few sentences? I got praiseworthy deed followed by snide remark.

Yea, hard to obtain a license sounds right

I got that to gnrfan.

OOPS
i did not rewrite it in cursive
i didn't know what "do not print" meant back then
does it mean that my score is going to be canceled?
bc i think i want it to be canceled but i don't know

Yeah, it was something and then snide remark.

gnrfan, i got the same (referring to passage w chinese girl, pattern)

kenny, for the whale section, a woman talks about how whale research is really different from other kinds of research because whales do everything really slowly so when humans try to notice patterns of behavior we have to adjust to their pace of life. last paragraph about her starting out as an experimentalist and moving to observation. comparing writing sonnets to observing whales.

The whale one was experimental probably... I didn't have that passage.

uh oh, I dont think I got the whale one.....yet I'm sure I got 4 cr sections.
Did I skip some problems or soemthing?

kenny

i probably had the same test format as you since I'm also sure that I had 4 CR sections and none of them had the whale passage.

Problem is, I have NO idea which of the 4 is the experimental... I don't think it's passages with tom cruise or the chinese girl.

Hmm

have a few questions:

the CR:

Monkeys: extroverted so orangutans: demonstrative???

Desert (vocab completion): should be regularity because occasional rock jutting out

section 2(vocab completion) Moratorium? Retention? I put moratorium

founding fathers passage: unduly laudatory? Passage 2 guy to the passage 1 author?

Radio: 2nd pp question: tangetial nostalgia??

“big version of the american sister, sweet charming etc. One of the choices was intentional flattery.” flatter? Wrong interpretation of statements ( look few sentences afterwards)

“praiseworthy deed followed by snide remark.”- anyone get something like that?

Transition for Chinese narrative: praiseful to self-deception?

Writing:
Last "Spot error" question for the long section: "contrast" A is wrong?

Koribilia (ancient place in modern Georgia) - no error?

"as quickly as" should be the right thing?

woops I probably should've numbered them: for responses just put like

Writing-2 to refer to the second question (koribilia)

thanks!

I got no error for the georgia thing. What about the gold rush?

I didn't get the same thing as you for the first 2.

Radio was not nostaligia.

Contrast A was wrong.
Koribilia is no error.
flatter is right.

I don't remember the Chinese one. What was the question exactly?

And I have a question... for writing:

Is attempt of rowing wrong... Shouldn't it be attempt to row?

I think "contrasting" was wrong... I kept saying to myself that it should be something like 'contrasting with" or "contrasting to".

also, I think A was the mistake in the Koribilia one... since it said Koribilia, in which ..." I don't think the "in" should be in there.

oh crap... hope to god it didn't say "attempt of rowing"... cuz that'd be wrong

i thought the rowing one was D or something

what about the gold rush? Also you the question wit that says something like "If they don't fill their orders their business will descend." Isn't descend an idiomatic error? It should be something like decrease.

if we didnt write the statement in cursive our scores get cancelled?
i think i wrote it half in cursive half in print bc i didnt have time lol

What I put

Monkeys: extroverted so orangutans: retired?

section 2(vocab completion) Moratorium

founding fathers passage: unduly laudatory?

Radio: 2nd pp question: DOn't remember the question.

?big version of the american sister, sweet charming etc. intentional flattery.?

?praiseworthy deed followed by snide remark.?
