It was APALLING .. LURID

presumptuous sounds good... but the problem is that you can't venture criticism. that doesn't make sense. you can, however, voice criticism, and both inquisitive and voice made sense there

you can venture criticism just as you can venture an opinion. it's in merriam-webster dictionary ;)

he didn't dare to venture criticism. that makes sense..because venture means to risk. he didnt risk it. inquisitive doesnt work because inquisitive is curious...that doesnt fit w/ the sentence.

The correct answer was PRESUMPTUOUS .. VENTURING

The newest member of the research team did not want to appear
PRESUMPTUOUS and thus refrained from VENTURING and criticism of the main scientists plan for finishing the project.

It was APPALLING .. LURID
Also please add COSMOPOLITAN to the list of correct sentence completions!

lol triwizard that was a different one...but yes it was apalling and lurid

it's inquisitive and voicing....

i think presumumptious makes more sense because he didn't want ot seem too bold. Inquisitive isn't really a bad quality, one which teh scientist wouldnt really have to hide.

I agree that presumptuous was correct for the first blank, but for the second... it didn't fit at all =/

And inquisitive can be a bad quality:

unduly or inappropriately curious; prying.

I don't know... Ah

if i wrote a decent essay but didnt even write a conclusion because of time. how bad will that hurt my essay grade? gah hopefully not too much but i have a feeling it's not good...

i thought it was the didactic one

dolce.. yeah it hurts... My friend wrote an awesome essay but didn't have time to write a conclusion... he got a 7

edit: ye i'm counting 7 mistakes so far....=( wat would that be for CR

thanks for the list btw

I was pretty sure it was PRESUMPTUOUS/VENTURE and not INQUISITIVE/VOICING.

you can indeed venture criticism. it's idiomatically accurate... besides, presumptuous has the necessary negative connotation, inquisitive doesn't have that to the same degree. IMO it's really the first word blank that makes/breaks the choices here because both venture/voice work

4pi... this is the sol'n (cred: 800)

overview: big circle radius = 4
small circle radius = 2

.5(pi (4) ^2) - 2(.5(pi (2)^2)) = 8 pi - 4 pi = 4 pi

Ugh. You have got to be kidding me. I hate CR! >:[
