March 10th SAT Discussion

for the last grid-in math question, im pretty sure the answer was 3,000, not 6,000 b/c it asked for the capacity of the container that was half full...

Does any know FOR SURE what they asked for? I honestly thought they wanted 3000 (for what 1/2X equaled.)

no it was 6000... it asked for the ** full capacity**

i put 6000 too. asked 4 capacity, not what was in it

nah broseph....that would be way too easy, especially for the last question in the section (to jsut find the capacity). im pretty sure i wouldnt have arbitrarily taken an answer and multiplied it by 1/2 unless it told me to do so.

urgh. is anyone definite??????

hey I think the one with didactic ... condoned is correct

because didactic is teaching
and condoned - to regard something considered wrong in a tolerant way, without criticising it..

This should fit: the new comer didnt want to seem _____ so he didnt____ criticisms about

btw nox... under your list for writing: you wrote correctly .. it should be "as quickly as" but you put choice E, should be choice D

Didactic/condoned is not correct, because to condone something is usually to encourage someone else to do it. Like, Anna didn't condone the minister's partying. You can't condone your own criticisms.

For the capacity one, i'm like 100% that it was 6000. It asked for the capacity of tank X. 3000 is not the capacity, it's how much was inside. Everyone agrees that the capacity is 6000, right? I don't see what the confusion is..

I agree it's 6000...

ahh rats that's horrible.. the def. matches!!!

It is 6000.

Please check the Math post, its explained there and everyone agreed on it.

what was the compatible to/ compatible with question??

Is complies to definitely unidiomatic? It sounds okay to me... I know complies with is unidiomatic but I think I circled no error for this question, does anyone remember what it was?

yo- for the CR one about the FOUNDING fathers wiht the choices of "unduly laudatory" and "unfairly dismissive"- wouldnt it be "unfairly dissmissive" b/c it says how he "nods" to ben franklins contradictions but on the whole it says he can do no wrong, which means he unfairly dissmisses the negative attributes of ben franklin?

the new comer didnt want to seem _____ so he didnt____ criticisms about

i think it was presumptuous , venture... didactic makes no sense whatsoever because didactic means teaching and hes not a teacher.

The question asked "what would the author of passage two think about the statement in passage one." The author of passage two explicitly stated that although patriotism and praise is good, but too much is bad. you have to take into account its from the perspective of the author of passage two so it would be unduly laudatory.

for the CR one about the FOUNDING fathers wiht the choices of "unduly laudatory" and "unfairly dismissive"- wouldnt it be "unfairly dissmissive" b/c it says how he "nods" to ben franklins contradictions but on the whole it says he can do no wrong, which means he unfairly dissmisses the negative attributes of ben franklin?

You're combining two questions. There was one question where the answer was unfairly laudatory, but that question, i think, asked what the author of passage two would think of the book discussed by the author of passage 1. The question about the nods to the author of passage 1 should have been answered, passing acknowledgement.

no it's "unduly laudatory" because it's excessively praiseful

no i understand that, and i understood what the "nod" was referring to during the test- i just used what ithoguht it meant to answer the question but i get what wbapwo is saying now..thanks

does anyone remember what the question about the 28th term and 40th term was asking? someone said the answer was 36, but i don't remember the question
