Ok folks how does March 10th work? If you are rejected or wanted how do you get the notification? Are skinny envelopes bad and fat ones good? Does Fedex or USPS send them...UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday. Do we get financial aid info with it? Do our parents get a letter too? What comes in the fat envelopes? Will they like me? Will they want me? Will I feel rejected? AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!

Different school does this differently. Some let you check online. Some send you fat/thin envelope. Some fedex acceptance… etc

what do they do for exeter if you know

My favorite is Deerfield, but it would be good if folks could post what knowledge they have about any of the schools…Thanks!

@ilikecheez32: There’s a whole thread that’s already covered most of the ways schools notify applicants of acceptances/rejections. Here’s the link: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/prep-school-admissions/1073196-how-schools-notify-acceptance.html?highlight=receiving+letters

Good luck to all of you!

Yongatilla beat me to it! :)

But note that much of the information will be inaccurate since March 10 is on a Saturday this year and not a weekday.

SPS notify by on-line. Does SPS post the name of students on their web site? Thanks.

How do international students receive their acceptance ?

Last year I received emails for all admission decisions, but I was waitlisted, so I don’t know if the procedure is different for acceptances…

Exeter sends your parents an email at around 6 in the morning. I just remember that that day, I woke up early, checked my dad’s phone and didn’t see anything, so I went and took a shower. When I came back, there was an email that said “Exeter Admission’s Decision” in the subject line. I wasn’t really nervous because I honestly didn’t think I was going to get in, so I was hoping for a waitlist. But then I saw “Congratulations!” and started screaming. And the rest is history.

A couple days later you get a big fat packet (if you get in) with a folder of financial info and a course book. It was pretty.

Ah, exonian, that sounds so surreal! Congrats!

Last year, I received nothing from Deerfield on M10. My friend in California, however, had received her acceptance letter. That’s when I knew I wasn’t going to be accepted. I think they send out acceptances through express mail or something. My thin WL letter came on the 11th. Even though it takes longer to find out, I would choose letters rather than emails any day. Getting rejected from an email would feel much colder, and I think getting accepted wouldn’t be as exciting because there’s nothing to rip open.

From Peddie I got a thick envelope with a “Congratulations!” written across the bottom of it. Inside there was a Peddie bumper sticker and all the paperwork I needed.

what kind of things do schools send for acceptances? like st. mark’s, nmh, and deerfield?

Took a while to find it, but here you go:

Next time, you do the research. :)

Thanks Dodgersmom, I have reviewed it. I only found this site in October, and I sort of thought new kids, new excitement…nerves…butterflies…and anxiety!
