March 12 - Official SAT - General Discussion IS open

what was the relationship among x^3, x^2, and x????????
Did you put C?

I dunno about nunmber 10 i got the rest right though...

no it wasnt the quickly one it was combine opinions or sumtin

Ah...I see. I thought you were going to say something much more controversial, lol...

for the directly proportional question.. i said the graph that looked like y=x

Yeah, but he said that he wanted to stand in between the two without getting in the line of fire. That sounds like he wants to take a more active role.

directly proportional -> D (hte line through the origin); directly proportional <-> equation of form y=kx, not y=kx+c.

For #10 (was that the |-2x+1| < 1?) I put 1/3. (|-2/3+1| = |-1/3| = 1/3 < 1)

x^2 < x^3 < x was impossible (C is the correct response).

x < x^3 < x^2 is possible (think x = -1/2)
x^3 < x < x^2 is possible (think x = -2)

^^^ i concur

I said churchill sentence was no error.

For the translation pieces:

Passage 1 was a pieces on how literary translations are the only valid translation.

Passage 2 was a piece on "The Seafarer" how he was very far from a literal translation, but he followed the general atmosphere of the story.

For the math question w/ the minimum value of y, I put 2.5
4(2.5)(2.5) = 25

i put majority rule isnt right using ethnic examples of minorities being discriminated etc, (to kill a mockingbird & martin luther king jr), both examples show people who go against the majority belief and fight for moral values and freedom etc. and the question with the water tank was 1 ft because the volume of the second tank was the same as the volume of the first tank, so itll go up the same.

i said the majority isnt always right; you should come to your own conclusions.

my examples:
nazi germany, slavery in antebellum america, rwanda (hutu majority slaughtering tutsis)

also... what was that P word that was on the test like twice... it was like... pern-something... uhhh

For the Hmong refugees question, I answered that he wished to merge the opinions of the doctors and the patients.

alebad01....i think some of ur grid ins are wrong. I don't remember a 10 or 12, can you remind me?? BTW, what did everyoen get for the last grid in? 2.5?

I used TKAM too :P

for the min value of y, i also put 2.5

heltahir, i thought that since he didn't know much about either group, he wanted to stand back and gain insight before doing anything. then later, he found he sort of sympathized with the hmong people.

its X^2 < x < x^3
i think

I said he wanted medical treatment that works with their religious beliefs?

What do u all think of the curve?

o s*hit it was copernicus who discovered teh heliocentric system. I put Gallileo as the one who discovered it as an example in the essay. I just hope they don't catch on.

for the x, x^2, and x^3 one, you can either plug in the 4 types of numbers, positive, positive fraction, negative, and negative fraction, leaving you with 1 choice left or you can graph the 3 equations.
