March 12th SAT--Essay Grading Error

I really think CB messed up my essay. I received a score of 0, yet all the other sections were fine. I believed that I wrote a very decent essay and I can't help but think what is going on. Did CB release anything about possible essay grading errors due to the rush? The essay is attached to the scantron for the multiple choice, right? So why would I not received an essay score? Not only this, but the 0 was factored into my total writing score. What is going on??? I sent them an email already. Anybody experiencing such a porblem with their score reports?
Thanks

Yes! I got 200's on math and writing and a 300 in verbal... I don't want to sound overconfident or anything, but I don't think that those are my scores. Especially since my PSAT selection index was 219. Thank God I'm not the only one who thinks that their scores are messed up.

Yeah. They gave me an 8 on my essay. Brought my stellar 730 writing score down to a 700. I think my get that essay regraded. I guess the essay graders read too many essays about the Spanish-American War and Romeo and Juliet (for the majority rule topic).

What essay prompt did you have? The majority rule one or the creativity one?

As you can see, majority rule. Go to my error thread and post your similar problems with CB's essay grading system. CCer's will be rioting in the streets because of the essay grading system. (Anyone remember 1968 Chicago, West Side?)

Skeet Skeet Skeet. Checking to see if CB allows that word. Skeet clap. skeet clap

Wow. White people don't know what that word means yet. Funny. I do and I'm white.

ITs not that the score is low-- its just that I didn't get a score at all! How is it possible? The essay is attached directly to my scantron and all my scores for the other section were fine.

It's possible that the graders found your essay illegible. If this is the case, they give you a 0, its happened to me on Princeton Review practice tests. So hopefully you have pretty neat hand writing, or else the 0 might be your actual score, not a mess up.

If you didn't answer the question.. you get a 0, regardless of how well you wrote your essay. If you went offtopic, or didn't answer it, there is nothing you can do but get a 0.

Does anyone know if you CAN get your essay regraded? Luckily i did get a score, but it was an 8 :/ I thought I wrote a great essay and that it deserved more... I'm happy with my overall score though.

I am 100% my writing is legitable because I printed instead of using scripts and nobody ever complained about my handwriting since elementary school. I am also 100% I stayed on topic; I had the majority rule one, which was really easy. Definately stayed on topic.

I'm afraid that they lost my essay.

I got a 9 on my essay despite a multiple-choice subscore of 80; either the essay graders were stringent or my barely legible handwriting has caught up to me :-X.

What was your overall Writing score braves872? 780? 800? 770? Just getting an idea of where the curves are on this test.

I definitely believe that I deserved higher than a 7 on my essay, so I just called CB and I ordered the hand-scoring service for $25. They said this includes the essay. I hope it doesn't end up being a waste of money.

Do you know if the scores get messed up often because my scores were extremely low for what I expected (to sad to even say!). I did really well on my PSAT's getting what's equal to a 1420, and I felt confident about the SAT, should i have it hand-scored? I just can't imagine that I did that bad.

If your scores are much, much, much lower than you expected I would do the handscore. Don't get it if you're in a situation like you thought you'd get a 700 and you got a 610, because that's really less questions than you'd probably think. Do it if you were expecting a 700 and got a 330. Something like that is probably the result of a grading error.

With the essay- my friend had a similar problem where she was positive she wrote on topic relating to the prompt and what not and recieved a zero. She called CB and they said that there was a problem entering in her essay and it would be regraded b/c apparently it never was graded and CB just assumed that with no grade it was a zero! so call away!!

kurplunk - the exact same thing happened to my friend

Thanks !! :)

Which phone number should I call for score error?
