March 2011 SAT- What did you think?

I wrote about Jacob Riis and wanted to cry afterwards.

i wrote about Man vs. Wild and MTV “made.” One of my friends who is reallllly smart doesn’t have cable, so i wonder how it fared for him. Sucks for any kid who doesnt watch t.v haha

yup lol. this one favored us lazy sobs who can’t get off the couch and cram vocab the night b4…

for the essay would talking about the negative implications of a false scripted reality be ok?

CR (SURPRISINGLY) and Writing were easy for me, Math seemed ok at the time until I went on here and found out that almost all the ones you guys are curious about, I in fact did wrong in some bogus way.

Here’s my take:

Critical Reading: It felt easier than usual to distinguish between correct and incorrect passage-based reading answer choices. Sentence completions seemed about normal. I’m not expecting a particularly forgiving curve.

Math: I thought this test was slightly harder than average. I’m expecting something along the lines of -1 = 790.

Writing: I thought the test was of approximately average difficulty. As for the essay, I feel sorry for students whose parents don’t allow them to watch television (though I myself wrote about bullfighting).

Essay: Very specific and more similar to an ACT prompt (which are almost always terrible) than a SAT prompt I thought but I think I still did well.
Critical Reading: Easy.
Math: Medium.
Writing MC: Easy.

Tenors, the question was asking about reality entertainment in general, not just TV shows. I as well as several other people (who don’t watch reality TV) used books and historical examples. They honestly can’t make the test for people who watch reality tv, because those people usually don’t do as well anyway :P.

Does anyone know when the SAT scores for March 2011 will be released, I really don’t wana wait long…I know it will probably be like end of March ):

Alright, so I used Elie Wiesel’s Night to demonstrate how novels can give an insight of the past, Ray Charles’s music despite his blindness to show that even in music, anyone can do anything if they try, and television’s broadcasting of the Japanese earthquake, representing how television, despite its fallacies, has its positives. Should I still cancel?

I think it’s March 31st

@Tenors

As long as it supported the idea that non-fiction/autobiographies, live news, reality shows, etc. are good/bad, you are fine. If you are going to die over have a 780 on the writing section, then cancel it. If you did better on a section than in previous attempts, you’ll really screw yourself if you cancel. Just cancel the sending of your scores if you are so concerned.

@Tenors, I don’t know- that seems kind of random. How did you get that out of “is reality tv harmful”?? interesting

Assuming I didn’t screw up horribly…

Math - 800 or 790
Reading - Mid-High 700
Writing - Mid-High 700

Hopefully I got my 2300, knock on wood.

I wrote about jersey shore too and I kind of feel like my score is going to be way lower because of it. I mean after the first thousand essays they read about jersey shore I think they’ll be kind of sick of it.

I don’t know how to emphasize this any further. THEY CANNOT GRADE YOU BASED UPON YOUR EXAMPLES, ONLY HOW YOU USED THEM! Length matters the most. I wonder how many people wrote about Jersey Shore being bad though… I did.

I knew everyone would say they were harmful so I said they weren’t. Just to give the reader something to look forward to.

Ugh @ the essay prompt - I had to make up a story since I had no idea what to write.
I think I’ll get something like this:
Writing - 700-800 (The essay, plus I had one or two questions that I’m unsure of)
Math - 750-800 (I know I got one wrong, so it depends on the curve)
Reading - 650-750 (I guessed from two or three choices on some of the vocabulary questions)

I’m going to stop looking at threads.
The more I look the more I see my errors…
I’m going to leave it up to ETS to figure out my scores instead of toiling over CC and wanting to kill myself for that stupid math mistake
alright. good luck guys! I really hope the curve is lenient, like SUPER lenient
I’ll be back on March 31st!

Yeah I should probably stop toiling over these threads too… the temptation is too strong though. Anyway I think the curve will be:

Math
-1=770
-2=760
-3=730

CR
-1=800
-2=800
-3=780

Writing: Whatever the usual is
