MARCH 2013 SAT CR Discussion

-7 with 2 omit on CR is -11 raw, so around 680.

@jjfine96
Thanks, I’m just hoping the classical music questions dint screw me over too much.

@Iwill

Lol. Funny how you knew right away my user name was think princeton.
Princeton was my top choice when I made this user name but then I realized there is no way that I can get into princeton… lol maybe 2%

@jjfine: What do you think the curve will be like. I was hoping for a 750 but I can handle a 730ish. I also like Harvard and Wharton but the grad based feeling at Harvard and the preprofessional feeling Wharton is portrayed to have make them modest third choice schools.

What score would -5 and none omitted be?

Have you guys taken the sat before? I’ve taken it and I personally thought this one had a little more confusing questions (the classical music **** ones)

I think you could get into Princeton. If you are low income, questbridge is a great way to go.

I’m guessing -2 or -3 for 800, then 10 or 20 points for each additional question.

edit: but, a -4 800 would be wonderful. Never happened before (at least with erikthered’s curves… maybe it’s happened in a non-released test though I doubt it). Would give me a really nice chance at a 2400 though… haha. Wishful thinking.

edit2: general consensus from what I’ve heard is that this test’s CR was significantly harder than previous tests. Don’t know if the curve will be adjusted that much though.

Also, on some older QAS pdfs I’ve received from friends or found online, I’ve often seen a question removed from a section. Does that mean the CollegeBoard found it to be too vague between two different answers, or what?

Steeltrap: around a 740

Considering that this was my first SAT and I got a 55 on the PSAT Critical Reading, my lowest section by far, I’m okay with that.

Why can’t CB announce the answers and the curve…
I mean they have our curves predetermined.

I’ve been hearing that the curves are predetermined, but that really makes no sense whatsoever. Isn’t the point of the curve to be based on the distribution of scores in the first place?

Yeah I want to break the 2300 barrier so badly. I got a 2190 once. I think I got an 800 in math because for me it was insultingly easy. Writing seemed okay but the essay threw me off. I also thought that seldom was wrong on an error ID. I screwed up some Sentence Completions but I think I did really well on the reading passages.

I heard that the experimental sections are used in later tests.
I’m not entirely sure, but that’s what I heard.

So basically our curves are determined by those who took experimental sections in tests before ours (not sure when), which became our non-experimental sections.

Mods please delete this post thnk prnctn already answered my question.

Ahhh
Hopefully I’ll get an 800 in writing and 780-800 (800 is almost impossible for -1 i guess) in math. And CR… please be lenient.

This might help.

DodgeWrench: thanks for linking this thread.

Hm… I see.

Let’s hope people did really bad on the experimental sections with the same questions as those we had :D.

I second that jjfine.
