***March 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

This thread is for those people who are taking the March SAT in the US. We can share tips and studying tactics. Only 17 more days until the big test. As for me, this is my first time taking it. I'm obviously aiming for the 2400.

There’s already another thread about this, but re-posting my answer for reference. Also, got a 2370 first time, so some of the stuff I use is mainly for practicing test-taking tips/doing practice in general.

Going for the 2400. Same as usual studying, when I looked at my score review for January, it looks like I only missed a question in vocabulary!!! Thus, I am ordering DirectHits Core and Tough Vocab to see if there is any improvement in the words (Amazon is nice with returns, so I won’t write in it). Other than that, 11 practice tests from Princeton and 12 from McGraw, I do practice tests like a monster, so I think I can get them all done.

So:

 • DirectHits Volume 5 Core and Tough
 • Princeton Tests
 • McGraw Hill Tests (apparently these are good for CR)

Math and Writing are my strong suits (I used to go to KUMON L0L)

@BioBoy97 Why don’t you do practice tests in the BB?

I finished them before I took my first SAT in January (all 10). I knock out practice tests like a monster lol.

Was it a dumb move to have taken the SATs in January and take it again in March? The study time in between is so short…and I want to see at least a 150 point improvement…
Most of my classmates are taking it in May or June but I have to take Subject Tests then…but I might take it a 3rd time in June.

Anybody have some tips on how to keep moving with same momentum throughout the whole test? I’m making silly mistakes because I’m getting exhausted from all of the thinking and analyzing.

So how is the studying for the SAT coming along?

Taking these as a Sophmore and I’m definitely stressing out.

So y’all can take the SAT I in America, but we can’t take it over here in Asia? In March that is.

@donnykim Haha no. This thread is for the people who are taking it here in the US so we can talk about it. International people have different tests so we can compare.

Got 1950 on the January test (darn that math curve) and taking it again in March! Hoping to get at least 2000, preferably 2100+.

Studying using the blue book, PR’s 11 tests book, and Direct Hit’s (I made my own vocab cards for the words).
Areas I need to improve on: CR !!

Good luck to all and let’s try to prevent our brains from exploding. TWO MORE WEEKS AND ITS OVER(?)

Crap. 2 more weeks to study for that 2400.
Math- 800
Writing-710-730 (Gotta work on Essay)
CR- High 600’s-Low 700’s
Score= ~2100-2200

2 more weeks. Let’s go

7 days to go! Omg… It’ll be my first time taking it and I haven’t really studied for it because of my school workload. I’m not enrolled in a prep class because it’s so expensive. The worst thing is, I’m not a native speaker so I guess I have a disadvantage… My scores in the practice tests were in the range of 1600-1800… I really need to work on my CR and also writing… Any tips you can lend me? Thank you so mucho.

@avc118 Read the silverturtle and Quiggi guides available here on College Confidential, they’re well worth the read and help orient you in how you can study.

@SATandAPs thank you so much!!!

5 days.

Hey everyone. I’m also taking the March test. I regularly get 800’s on Math section, but get mid mid 600’s to 700 in reading and writing. Gotta get that 2200+

Same. 4 more days. Why are the standardized tests also this week? ■■■

Taking it in March. Aiming for anything above 2300. Normally get 1 wrong in Math, 1 Wrong in Writing, and am slowly climbing from 6 wrong in CR to 4 wrong in the past two tests. Looking for an 800 M 800 W 720ish CR

I took the test in November aiming for a 2300 and only got a 2240. Sort of registered for this test on a whim … I’m very nervous that I won’t get something I want. Vanderbilt requires at least a 1550 M+R to be considered for their scholarship, and I need merit money to go to school … which is meh but whatever :smiley:

really hoping this test goes well for myself and for you guys!
