***March 2014 SAT (US ONLY)***

seeing people complain about their 2200s just makes me even more depressed about my score:
M:650 (lower than I hoped for)
W:610 - E: 9 (I though I would do better)
CR:570 ( I dunno ■■■ happened)
T:1830
This was my first time taking it.
Is it reasonable for me to aim for a 2000+ (a 2100 would be nice, but I don’t wanna get ahead of myself)?
Any advice to help me prepare for the CR and Writing?

and also I plan on taking the test again in may and october (subject tests in June). how much better is the curve during those test dates than in march? Obviously the curve won’t be drastic enough to raise my 570 cr to a 750, but does anyone know the tendancy of the curve for the may and october tests?

M 770
CR 800
W 740 with a 12 essay
2310 total
W MC raw score was a 68… Should I order score verification? It doesn’t seem right…

@rkdtnqls96 Do you mind giving any resources to help improve my essay? Also, to everyone who scored above an 8, how many paragraphs and what were your arguments? Thanks

What was everyone’s study plan for the SAT? I’m retaking it in May and I scored a 1700  not too ashamed to post it. Any help regarding study time would be awesome

is 2260 superscore bad for an asian? specifically aiming for ivy leagues

@SimplyOverdone I personally didn’t study from any resources but I did receive advice from past test takers. The key is to make a profound argument which you support with credible sources (well known novels, historical allusions, scientific evidence, etc). You also want to analyze your assertions and elaborate your commentary, not just regurgitate facts.

I don’t think I am the best person for advice considering I pulled a 1950, but I would suggest taking practice tests (PR, Barrons or Blue Book) and checking what you got wrong. If you have an issue with a particular area, I would also suggest getting a book in that specific area.

My Suggestions
CR: Direct hits (V1 and V2) and maybe the Critical Reader by Erica Metzler (just ordered it, not sure how it is).
Math: Dr. Chung’s SAT math workbook if you score >650. Gruber’s complete SAT math workbook if <650.
Writing: The Ultimate Guide to SAT Grammar by Erica Metzler.

800 CR
770 M
790 W
for a total of 2360!!! I’m really happy because I wanted 2300+ plus, so I got that. For all of you that want improvement, I went from a 2260 in November to a 2360 now with just a little bit of prep over the weekends for about a month, so don’t fret about improving scores!

You’re Asian, I am Asian… I think that the controversy regarding the idea that Asians need to do better than other ethnic groups is a bit…incomplete. A lot of my Asian friends are really borring on paper which may contribute to colleges expecting higher scores from them. The idea is that if you are boring, you can make up for it by having high scores.
It’s difficult differentiating yourself from other Asians because most Asians have stories like,
" My parents immigrated from <asian country=""> so that my family and I could have a better life in America. All my life, they taught me to work hard… I play the <piano violin=""> and I am in <math team="" science="" olympiads="" chess="">. I am introverted, I like books. Racism was a problem for me growing up because…"
You see what I’m talking about? </math></piano></asian>

I personally think your score is fine and you should work try to figure out something to brag about to colleges. You have to market yourself.

Hi - Just wanted some feedback. This was my second time taking the test. I received the same score (2030) both times, but went in with 2 months of solid prep before this March one. Is it wrong for me to think that I at least deserved a little score raise this time around? To be fair, I didn’t think this one was all that difficult either. Any feedback helps!

Anyways I requested access to the google doc, can the owner please accept so I can compare. Thanks :)

550 CR :frowning:
670 M
730 W 9 Essay
Total 1950

definitely retaking in june
any tips for CR or how to get a 21-22?

690 CR
600 M ughhh
670 W 8 essay the essay literally ruined me

1960

i mean not too bad for the first try definitely aiming for a 2100+
Do you guys know of any books that will help me improve my math score?

This is stupid. I didn’t miss any passage based questions but missed three sentence completions and then it said I omitted one (which I know I didn’t!), which put me at 750 CR. There has to be a mistake! There has to be! This 2300 is really making me more and more mad each day

I missed 3 critical reading and got a 730…. with no omitted…?
Never mind, it says I omitted two (which I didn’t)

I got 12 wrong on Critical Reading and got a 630. I looked it up on SAT Panda and it said that 630 was the lowest score I could get for 12 wrong. I thought the curve was going to be extremely generous?

2 wrong was still an 800 for CR. In case anyone wanted to know. I think that’s generous.

I only missed 4 CR and got a stupid 750…so much for a generous curve…

Anyone know the potential raw score translations?

According to SAT Panda they were a bit lenient on the Math section, and normal grading on the CR and Writing.
