Well…time to register for the ACT now
@Cocohorse It seems that you really don’t need any help on the reading and writing section, so I would only buy the Chung book. I wish I got it before the March SAT, but it wasn’t out then.
“What bothers me most is that an 800 english/reading subscore concords to a 34 ACT combined English/Reading subscore. That is ridiculous.”
suzyQ7, that CB Table 8 “is only applicable if you took the ACT prior to September 2015.” That might explain why 800 equals only 34, not 36. Both systems are comparable.
But I completely agree with you, it’s insane that a perfect SAT E/R can’t equal a perfect ACT. Even if systems aren’t comparable, perfect on one test should equal perfect on another test.
It almost implies that the SAT is inferior.
I have a question about retaking the test. My son got a 1480, but his essay was 8/8/8. Should he retake the entire test or just the test without the essay?
My daughter has ACT composIte 36 and now has SAT 1530.Can anyone comment on if she should submit both scores on her applications to competitive schools or just the ACT?
SAT 1530 is equivalent to ACT 34.
There’s your answer.
Send the 36, and forget about the SAT!
Hey guys, where can I find the score conversion chart? Thanks
I’m seriously considering taking the ACT. I thought my score was equivalent to a 2080 and that one more round or two of testing could get me into the mid 2100s. But now with this concordance, it’s as if I need 1500+ to even scrape this, which doesn’t make any sense because that’s only a few questions wrong on the whole test for an equivalent score of 300 points less than the old perfect score. Can someone explain what they think will happen or if I should take my chances with the ACT?
1530 800M, 730R/W, 6/5/7 Essay
Should I retake it? Also, do I have to send the essay score too if I choose to send these scores to colleges?
No, u should not retake a 1530.
1580!
Does anyone have a link to these concordance tables everyone is talking about?
@aaronuhs College Board just released in app two days ago that you can use to convert your new SAT score to the old SAT score. Is that what you mean?
@Cocohorse yes I have downloaded it! Thanks
I still haven’t received my score. Anyone else in the same boat?
I’m looking for some advice from you guys. I don’t think I did as well as I could on my essay portion. Should I retake a 7, 6, 7? (I scored 1600 btw)
@dachosenwong
You’re kidding right? If you retake a 1600 it will honestly look bad to colleges
i got a 1460. dang it. this is such a terrible score and i need to just move on and take the act. will top ivy league colleges mind if i only send them my act score? is it better to have both? because i dont want to retake the sat again. i wont have enough time to actually improve.
YOU MUST BE KIDDING @dachosenwong. NO… you should not take a 1600. Find something else to fill your time.
