March 21 Still no letter from Loyola Marymount University

they were pretty unorganized and sporadic with the decisions

Is there any approximation as to how many applicants were waitlisted this year? I’ve got waitlisted as well. @-)

My D has given up on them. If the University doesn’t care about getting students their admission results on a timely fashion, then it is not worth attending.

I got waitlisted as well.

Ridiculous…no decision yet, and I just called the office and they are out until Monday.

This is honestly unacceptable. I’m an RD applicant and I heard from them TWO DAYS after my application was finalized. IN FEBRUARY. I have no idea what is up with your guys’ decisions. I wish you the best of luck, though!

i just got waitlisted after being deferred…i’m over this school honestly. it used to be my second choice but i can’t take it seriously anymore.

LMU is my only hope now since I have been rejected by all other schools I have applied to ;(
It’s even worse that my intended major is Film Studies and LMU is very well known for its Film related majors and attracts tons of applicants from around the world. I am requesting great amount of financial aid from them too! Was waitlisting me just a nice of saying no to me? Do they share information on how many applicants are waitlisted and what would be my approximate rank among them if requested, though they stated that they do not rank them?
oh my, wish I had other options in case I get rejected by LMU. Rant is real, sorry!

Waitlisted as well. Looks like my daughter is DePaul bound for film production with $17k scholarship/yr with backup of BU guaranteed transfer for fall 2016. But who knows. Her college experience will be what she makes of it. Proud of her accomplishments! But I’m so done stressing over this college app process. Best of luck everyone!

My daughter was waitlisted in 2011 for Theater, and was accepted 6 weeks later, after submitting an updated package with her current (improved) GPA, and a list of her most recent accomplishments. Even though they did not encourage an interview, we visited the Admissions Office to deliver the package in person, and she met with an Admissions advisor to inquire about the possibility of moving off the waitlist. While her stats were slightly below the average, her SATs were within limits. She will graduate in May 2015 cum laude. The process is honestly so random that it is hard to make any meaningful suggestions, but if this is where you want to be, it is worth the extra effort to appeal the waitlist.

Just received an email from them and it reads -

We received your request to remain on our Wait List.
We appreciate your continued interest in LMU. Nothing else is required from you at this time.
There is no guarantee that we will use our Wait List.
Our first indication will be right after May 1st and then again around July 1st.
On behalf of LMU Admissions Team.
Best

@socalmom2 thank you for sharing that story and I hope the result will be the same for me as it was for your daughter. I certainly can’t do the live interview since I am an international applicant from a developing country in East Asia. From reading what you have written, I’m guessing that they are not into online interviews(skype) either.

Hi Billy17. I can only speak to the process in 2011, but I doubt they do any online interviewing from waitlist applicants. They seemed to generally discourage any face to face contact, which seems kind of odd to me, but perhaps they fear this would give local applicants an advantage over other students. My daughter also emailed the head of the department in her major to express her continued interest in the program after being waitlisted. I don’t know if demonstrating her strong interest after being waitlisted was what got her in, but it can’t hurt to be proactive. I wish you the very best of luck, and hope you hear good news soon!

not that anyone cares, but I got admitted to LMU

@Billy17 Congrats on your admittance! Did you accept?

Seems like they are accepting folks off of the waitlist. Our S got a call too. While they also confirmed via email, the MyLMU is not updated so we cannot get any info such as deposits or what the financial aid is. I guess we’ll have to wait until Monday to call.

Congrats @Billy17…of course we care. What a relief! I was worried about you!

@mumz14 Yes, of course I did! Thank you :stuck_out_tongue:
@uscjer Thank you very much, the prayers have been answered!

@harrycrow Are you going to attend? Congrats!

@mumz14 yes most likely!! thank you so much
