March 22 - CVW

I am planning on going to the March CVW. I have tickets to the Navy lacrosse game against Colgate. Any one else going?

Will be there for sure--- would not miss this one for anything...especially after last year! NO WAY Colgate is going to repeat this time round!!!!

My company will be doing drags and theres more than a good possibility that I will be taking one, so you may end up with me.

sandiegodude1607 Thanks for the response. I am really looking forward to staying at the Academy again. The summer seminar was awsome. I hope to get to meet you.

My CVW is set for April 12-14, just in time for the Army-Navy Lacrosse game, I'm sooo excited, especially since it appears that Army may be good this year & give Navy a close game.

lol.... not a chance in heck!!! NO WAY Navy is going to break their streak with the boys in black and gold!!! :)

Oh of course not! I just want to see a good game if my dad and I are coming all the way from San Jose, CA!

GOOOOOOO NAVY!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will definately see a GREAT game.... no doubt about it! And Army is right on Navy's tail this year...they just beat Syracuse, which is no easy undertaking! So it looks like it is setting up to be a great matchup this year and one not to be missed!!!! Have fun!!!

is cvw by invite only?

Yes, but lest you've not received an invite, it may not hurt to contact your RO to see if you can get one for March or April ... good luck.

Thank you.

Looked like 150+ at the March 22-24 CVW. Admissions stated two things I didn't realize. First, 80% of the offers for appointment have been sent out for the class of 2011. Secondly, the issue of not having 20/20 eyesight is not of great importance as it was in the past. Vision waivers are granted readily if the candidate is competetive. Other parents and candidates may have heard other information that I missed out on. Good luck to all.

wow , is that true 80% of offers are already out for the class of 2011??
So how many rejections go out do you think at this time? Do you think the vast majority of rejections are already out?? Tell me yes.

When I was rejected, I got it on April 12, 2005....my own 'day of infamy.'

Did it end up well for you down the road? Did you reapply and get it then?

emm89,

First things first ...

"Did it end up well for you down the road? Did you reapply and get it then? "

DMeix's answers are ... yes, yes, yes ...

Altho he may say the answer to your 1st question remains to be seen. ;) Maybe the old adage of "be careful what you wish for?" jk,jk

To your question of the 80% offers and rejections being out there ... I would guess knowing the # of rejections to be so much greater, that it's safe to say the majority of rejections have been sent. And there are still many to be sent. socal's information simply reaffirms the truth of rolling admissions ... apply early and get all pieces in ASAP. All things being equal, it dramatically enhances one's chances in a rolling admissions scheme.

Sounds like if about 80% of Appointments for 2011 are already allotted, then still about 300 remain to be determined. That sounds about right when considering that the candidates that now seem to be competing for these remaining 300 Appointments are from the qualified alternate pool. The 1200 or so already given out went to NAPS, Foundation, LOAs, Primaries, most-highly qualified MOC nominees, recuited athletes, Fleet, etc. And, when considering that if you're determined "qualified", historically, 75% of those "qualified" candidates are given Appointments from the alternate pool, there probably are maybe 400 or so qualified alternates still competing for those remaining 300 slots. Which is not too bad. When thinking of it that way, it certainly sounds more encouraging, to me, than more generally thinking that ONLY 20% remain, if my figuring is accurate. Don't give up hope now!

go navy81 - I like your figuring and I'm sticking w/ that. 400 competing for 300 slots. Son will like those odds too. Although I think he'd much prefer a 100% appointment in his possession.
