March 29, 5 PM?

Okay CCers, a quick question

I have been reading posts about a March 29, 5PM notification for some schools, I'm guessing the Ivies. Is this some kind of a standard that the Ivies share for notification by email? What exactly is this? I appreciate your help

The Ivy League has some rules regarding notifications. March 29 must be the earliest they are allowed to release them, so most of the schools are doing it on that day. I guess their reasoning is that if they reply too late, you might have already decided somewhere else...so they are notifying on the earliest date they are allowed.

When you say 5pm on March 29th...does that mean you have to go to their site to check to see if you were accepted? Or do you check your email to see if they sent you an acceptance. Does anyone know?

It depends on the school.

I know Harvard and Columbia send emails and you have to check Penn's website to see your decision.
