March 29, 6pm = Decisions!

Dear kitkatkatie,

I want to let you know that we will allow Duke University Regular Decision applicants (and Early Decision applicants whose admissions decision was deferred to Regular Decision) to view their admissions decisions on-line beginning 6:00 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2010.

You will receive two separate e-mails from our office on Thursday, March 25. The first e-mail will provide you with a unique admission decision PIN and the next e-mail will provide you with your unique admission decision password. On Monday, you will be able to enter your PIN and password at https://app.applyyourself.com/?id=duke-u to receive your admission decision. Please bookmark and review the admission decision web page to ensure your personal computer meets basic system requirements. You should also add our e-mail address - undergrad-admissions@duke.edu - to your address book to prevent your PIN and password from being quarantined by your SPAM filter.

Please note that the PIN and password we will send you on Thursday, March 25, 2010 is distinct from your Admissions Checklist username and password.

If you are not able to access your decision on-line, we can provide your admissions decision by telephone beginning Tuesday, March 30, 2010.

Since we deliver our decision letters only to the applicants themselves, we expect that only the applicant will be checking his or her decision on-line. If you decide to check your decision on-line, we strongly encourage you to do so in the privacy of your own home, not at school. We believe your decision is a private matter, and for many reasons we have found it's best for applicants to be away from friends and classmates when they check their decisions.

If you have any technical questions, please direct them to the Technical Support team by using the "Technical Support" link on the login page or the "Tech Support" button located at the top of the page once you login. You can direct all other questions to the Admissions Office staff at 919-684-3214 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Remember, though, that we will not provide your admissions decision by telephone until Tuesday, March 30.

Good luck with all of your applications, and thanks again for applying to Duke!

Christoph Guttentag
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions

Yeah, also just got this. Pretty awesome  was thinking that I would only get Duke after my ivies, but quite happy that I will get it (at least something!) sooner.

I saw the Duke email and my heart skipped a beat, esp since Berk and Northwestern came out today.

GOOD LUCKKKK
SO SOON! OMG

Does anyone know when letters arrive? Thanks :)

^For ED mine came in either the next day or day after that

Will financial aid info be included with the letter (if accepted)?

My financial aid didn’t come with my letter because there was a mistake with my mom’s tax return, but when we cleared that up it came within a week. I think it was meant to come with the letter

Just wondering, but what time does your ‘admission decision’ say that it was submitted?

Mine is 3/24 at 1:16 PM…

Makes me nervous that everything is already decided! haha

@Tristan - mine says the same exact thing.

I’m sure it means nothing haha

where does it say when your “admission decision” was submitted?

@john: When you log into your Duke account using the pwd and PIN that you got in your e-mail, you should see something like that at the bottom of the page.

Mine says it was submitted 3/24 also, but at a 5:35 EST. Do you think the different times mean anything, considering you both got 1:16 EST?

I feel like an idiot proposing this could mean anything, but after the whole Boston College tabs uproar I wouldn’t be surprised… thoughts?

Mine says 5:35 too…hmm. Guess we’ll find out soon enough!

my decision was posted at 1:16 also. I dnt think the time has anything to do with your decision. I hope it does but i doubt it.

mine is 1:16 too… I wonder what’s up with that?

AHH this wait is terrible

Um, when ED came out I remember people were trying to see if there was a correlation between time emailed/submitted and the decision. I don’t think there was.

So basically they make a decision, give us a website/password to show us that they have made a decision, and then make us wait to actually see what the decision is. How nerve wracking! I really don’t plan on getting in anyway, so I’m not all that concerned, but I’d like to know for sure so I can make the deposit at another school.

ugh mine was 5:35pm

Yeah I’ve done some CC creepin’, and it seems that the later time is correlated with lower scores. Of course that could very well be us (me) over-analyzing.

As busy as the admissions are, why would they even bother to set up the timing of emails to correlate to your scores? I’m sure they don’t have THAT much spare time. (Although a computer programming would work, but still…)
“Oh this person got a 2210 on his SAT! He is in the top 15% of applicants (who have scores from 2200-2350). I should send these emails to him at exactly 1:32 p.m.”
Hahaha that would be so insane.
And yes, as a fellow EDer who was also freaking out about the (seemingly) late time taht I received my Pin/pw, there really was no correlation, I assure you. I got it at the same time as everybody else (the time I read was a screwup) and I got deferred.
Relax everyone. Decisions are already made; let’s just wait for Monday when all hell will break loose. :D
