Whoops. S is already on it. Sigh. I can’t wait for this all to be done…
UMich financial aid package in. I sure hope something is missing since as of now the package is unpayable.
So are things going to wrap up today? Or are we going to be waiting on the last admissions decisions over the weekend? (We are still waiting on Peabody.)
S just texted me his acceptance from Peabody @BassTheatreMom so I guess so!
Yes!! She’s in CIM!!! Now waiting for Curtis & Peabody. I think I’m developing an ulcer! LOL!
:))
Good luck with the appeal! Already filed one with Mannes.
And she’s in Peabody!! Two teachers want her!
Congrats @yourmama99 and D!
please let me know if you hear of anyone hearing about Curtis
S got into Peabody, too. Now it’s decision time. Congrats to you all!
Congrats everyone!
Yes Congrats!!! Now to figure out which Ramen noodles are my favorite!
D accepted at Peabody!! Congrats to all!
S accepted at Peabody, as well! Congrats all!
@yourmama99 Mine is likely CIM bound! Waiting for financial aid, however. . .
@chellomom We’re crashing CIM’s site!! What? All 100 of us???
CIM financial aid just posted. Best offer so far. Now come on Curtis! Do y’all know anyone waiting on Curtis?
I agree about the CIM award–it blew me away! Only Johns Hopkins (not Peabody) rivaled that award. Can CIM afford to give all of this money? All that stress about rejections, ridiculous financial aid packages, trying to use JHU to leverage Brown to leverage a conservatory–it all melted away with CIM’s award. We’re really happy and will commit asap. And then I can get a good nights sleep.
Does anyone know of the likelihood of getting more money from either Boco or NEC for vocal performance? D was accepted to both but merit scholarships and need grants were both about $15,000 each leaving $40,000 still needed. While very good state school, CU Boulder gave full scholarship with excellent studio. She understands logically how it is hard to turn that down and go into so much debt as an undergrad but D really dreamed of ending up in Boston at either school.
Hmmm…for classical VP CU Boulder has a pretty good reputation next to BOCO and NEC. Paying the surcharge would be tough. She could do the east coast for grad school when money is usually (but not always) more substantial.
We are at the tail end of a VP masters degree and I’m very thankful there is no debt. I think she’ll just be able to make it on her own with mom and dad as a back up. No debt (and a recent win at a competition - not easy for a mezzo - those darn sopranos are such show offs) is giving her the dollars needed to travel to auditions. She has friends facing this now. Great education and no dollars to have the flexibility to continue to pay for lessons and audition. VP is a marathon. If you go out to fast (expensive) you may not have the resources to finish the race.
