March Madness Baby!

who else is ready? this is by far my favorite time of the year.. who do you guys have as sleeper picks? I am liking georgetown and baylor as two possible teams to make the elite 8 if they have the right matchups. If Texas can get their together, they have so much talent, but they're poorly coached and too inconsistent. Purdue will definitely be an early out.

If anyone doesn't know what i am talking about it's college basketball.

Ohio State babyyy!!!

If anyone besides Kentucky wins, I think the whole team should do the John Wall dance on the podium

notre dame’s not in it?

I <3 John Scheyer :)

I think Cornell could be a nice 1st round upset if they get a good match-up. And I’d always watch for Nova, Scottie Reynolds is clutch…

I think Kentucky and Duke are overrated. Miss St. is my sleeper. Georgetown isn’t a sleeper pick anymore. I whink West Virginia is overrated too.

I don’t think Miss. State gets in after the loss today. I say they should though. They were a quarter of a second away from beating kentucky.

Va Tech and Mississippi State got totally screwed. A REALLY nice road set up for Siena. They are a great team, and they get Purdue sans Robbie Hummel (who is totally beatable w/o Hummel…Minnesota beat them by 20 yesterday) and then likely TAMU (maybe Utah St). Definitely a good chance for them to be that cinderella team this year.

I really am only a fan of Rounds 1/2 (those are the only one’s exciting to me) but I try to watch every game.

Maryland got such a **** region.

I don’t see MSU going very far ;). Kentucky is a bit overrated; Duke is actually generally underrated, though we’ll see how they do w/o ACC refs.

@SLight

three words for you:
UCLA - Gonzaga 2006

pssshhhtt!

Syracuse !!!

Ahhh…the infamous comeback game where Adam Morrison started bawling his eyes out at the end.

First Round Upsets (meaning the lower seed wins): Cornell over Temple, Siena over Purdue (anyone else see that Purdue vs. Minnesota game? Purdue is…ew), Minnesota over Xavier, GTech over Oklahoma State, Murray State over Vandy, UTEP over Butler, and Louisville over Cal

Maryland, Pitt, Texas, and Duke in the final four (Duke winnin it all). Yup, I’m totally going to be right…What are your guys’ final fours looking like?

8 v 9 is not an upset. Vandy won’t lose. Otherwise, those are pretty good, except I don’t know about Butler/UTEP. None of the Final 4 teams you listed will make it there. Texas is an 8. They suck. Maryland will not beat Kansas. Duke is Duke and always chokes. Pitt won’t make it that far.

Texas in the FF? O_O

My first round upsets are (also, by upsets I mean the worse seeds win; DYK: the 9 seed has won 54% of the first round matchups in the history of there being 64 team tournament): 10 GT over 7 OkSt, 9 FSU over 8 Gonzaga, 9 Louisville over 8 Cal, 13 Siena over 4 Purdue.

In the FF, I have Kansas, Syracuse, Duke, and WVU. Duke beating Kansas in the Finals.

I know, not fairly adventurous, but my bracket will be changing b/w now and Thursday.

Wow, Duke’s really good.

upsets- cornell > temple, Wash > Marquette, Mizzou > Clemson, Utah St > A&M, Siena > Purdue
2nd round- gonzaga > syracuse, xavier > PIT, ND > Baylor (not sure though)
3rd round- Butler Elite 8, GTown elite 8, Wisconsin elite 8, ND/Baylor elite 8 (depends who)
Final 4- KState > Kansas, Duke > Wisconsin
KState > Duke

idk if i have the balls to keep that though. Kansas has beaten KState 3 times and i think the way KState played @ the end of the game yesterday was pretty valiant. I like them a lot, but dam this is tough!

EDIT: whoever has Texas in the final 4… i am thinking of choosing them over Kentucky. They matchup extremely well to them player for player, but UK is too well coached. Wouldn’t surprise me to see the pre season favorite spark at the right time and make a run though.

My Final Four is Michigan State, Syracuse, West Virginia, and Duke.

I know Michigan State hasn’t played well this season, but I’m a loyal fan :). We usually play better basketball in the tourney anyway. We made the Final Four in 2005 as a #5 seed so it might happen again…

I feel like Duke will get into the Final Four because they’re in the easiest region. The only team that can compete with them in the southern region is Villanova and I have a feeling that they’ll get upset with they way they’ve been playing lately.

I beg to differ. This year is different. Duke has arguably the best backcourt in the nation, and their inside game has improved with Zoubek, and the Plumlee brothers playing better.
