March Madness Baby!

^That’s true. I think New Mexico was overseeded, but still, a great win by UW. Another great upset, that will be overshadowed is St.Mary’s over Villanova

I actually had Villanova losing in the second round. They had ZERO inside presence. I just had them losing to Richmond instead of St. Mary’s.

^ smart man…/girl… lol.

Baltimoron- i had the same thing. Nova wasn’t going into the tourney on the right note. I don’t think NM was overseeded. How can you give a team with an RPI of 6 who had some big wins anything below a 3? WASH went into the tourney hot and confident. Ugh i am such an idiot for changing all my picks…

WVU will make the elite 8 and hopefully lose to wisconsin.

Am I the only one who thinks Duke has a really easy road to the Final Four?

^They do have a ridiculously easy road. But they still won’t make it.

^Baylor’s a pretty good 3 seed. A lot of people had them beating Nova anyway.

Texas A&M is gonna beat Duke.

I don’t know, Baylor’s good but are they that good. I haven’t watched them play, so I don’t know. But I think Duke could finally relive it’s glory days this year. It’s been a while since they’ve won a championship.

I think Duke had the best back-court in the country (Singler, Scheyer, Smith), so as long as they’re playing well, Duke can make a deep run.

^ like me = p. I believe duke edges baylor in elite 8

i don’t really get the one and done format of the tourney… best of 3 would actually prove who the better team is. another reason i dont like college ball.

^Eww!!! March Madness is the single greatest sporting event in the world. Yes, it’s better than the World Cup, the Olympics, the Super Bowl, EVERYTHING. Hands down.

You don’t like college ball because there’s far more drama and importance to every moment? Ok…

BYU losing hurts, but it’s cool because I really hate them.

umm no ? because even the nets can beat the cavs once in a blue moon. the real reason I don’t like college ball is because they are really ineffecient, too many stupid fouls, too many stupid turnovers, too many stupid shots, too much uneccessary passing that don’t lead to anything, constant choking at the freethrow line, 50 point games etc. the talent level in college vs. the nba is not even close. The worst nba team would crush the ncaa champions 99 out of 100 times.

edit: also the seeding is terrible (ie. most of the big east in the tourney)

But NBA players don’t have the passion of college players. And the fan bases and arena environments don’t even compare. No NBA arena/crowd plays a role in the outcome of the game. NCAA arenas can intimidate the opposing team and propel the home team to a win. There is no place in the NBA like Cameron Indoor, Comcast, the Phog, Rupp, etc.

Well the good teams are always going to have fans and there are definitley nba teams with rabid fan bases. Portland Blazers, GS Warriors, Lakers, celtics, cavs and pretty much all of the good teams have solid fan bases. You can definitely find bad fanbases in college and the nba (76ers come to mind -.-) but there are so many more college teams that don’t ever go on tv and are never mentioned who don’t have a big following.

As for passion, the ncaa trounament would more comparable to the playoffs, not the regular season where they play a whopping 82 games… by this time some teams are fighting for playoff seeds and some are just going through the motions because they are out of the playoffs race. it’s not all that different from any other sports league…

I’m sorry but the NBA is crap. It is the worst of the 4 major professional sports leagues.

good logic. thanks. the nba is crap yet every player in the ncaa tourney wants to go there.

It is great logic, actually. NBA players don’t play defense. As cliche as this is going to sound, NBA players really do play for the name on the back of the jersey instead of the front. Lebron is the only redeeming quality of the NBA.

As opposed to the NBA, where there are non-existent fouls, stupid turnovers, stupid shots, no passing, generally poor freethrow shooting and high scoring games because nobody bothers to play defense? Now obviously there’s more talent in the NBA, but that doesn’t necessarily make the games more interesting. Every game in the tournament counts, and you can see how much they matter to the players. This really isn’t the case in the NBA. And from an aesthetic POV, it’s no contest. The team style played in college is far more interesting, and its absence in the NBA over the past 20 years is a big reason for its decline in popularity.
