March Madness Baby!

My final four is:

Ohio State, Villanova, Kentucky, Syracuse

Ohio State over Kentucky in the finals to truly determine the player of the year!

Not too confident about OSU against Kansas, though. If we can win that, watch out…

BYU over KSt in the round of 32

book it, *****es

And seriously, UC Berkeley is better than Lousville

I love how CC likes picking good academic schools even when they are gonna lose.

I think TCBH is high or something, just sayin…

Seriously? Louisville is gonna run over CAL and in stead of BYU beating Kansas State how about they are going down in the first round to the mighty gators!!!

lmu should have scheduled ucla this year, they might have had a shot at winning (;

go gators!! georgia tech is gonna upset, as will old dominion over notre dame and watch siena against an ugly purdue team. cornell WILL beat temple. !

Nah, it’s all about statistics. Duke and Kansas are easily the top two teams in the country. BYU and Kansas St. are both top 10 teams and it should be a good game (lol @ Florida - questionable selection there). As for Cal, the Pac-10 sucked this year but its downfall has been a bit over hyped. Cal is a solid, veteran team that could really do some damage if they’re hitting from deep. They may flame out in typical Kal style, but they’re just a better team than Louisville. Wisconsin may surprise some people.

And LMU [would’ve gone down in flames](UCLA).

But seriously, I haven’t paid too much attention to basketball this year. It makes me very sad.

You guys should all join the cc hsl bracket, info is in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/881769-cc-hsl-march-madness-bracket-challenge.html

And TCBH, did you watch Louisville beat Syracuse not once, but twice this year including the opening round of the Big East tournament???

BYU won’t beat KState. Gonzaga or FLA St. (i think the zags) will beat cuse though and everyone will be shocked.

Louisville will dominate against Cal. Cal plays in one of the weaker conferences in college basketball, while Louisville plays in the toughest conference in college basketball and has beaten the top team in that conference (Syracuse) twice.

Duke, Georgetown, Vandy, and Cornell are all great academic schools that could make a good run in the tourney this year.

Of course not. I didn’t watch their loss to Western Carolina or their 22 point shellacking at the hands of Charlotte either. It looks like they’re best when they force turnovers on defense and control the boards on the offensive end. Both are things Syracuse has struggled with this season. Cal isn’t such a favorable matchup, even if they’re not as good as Syracuse. Bear in mind that one of Cal’s top players was missing for their early season losses at Syracuse and against Ohio St.

The one time I saw Gonzaga play this year, they were atrocious. But maybe that was just because Duke’s so good ;). Look, I hate BYU and hope they lose, but they’re way underseeded and the game against KSU will be a close matchup.

And Cal finished first while Louisville finished 6th. Cal only loses if Randle shoots them out of the game.

lol… Louisville plays in the big east as opposed to the pac 10. nough said. Do you know how many teams made the tourney in the pac 10? 2. Big east? 8.

Also, BYU might be a bit unseeded but they’re not nearly as good as KState at least imo. No way they can keep up with KState’s athletic backcourt. KState played Kansas close in the first half 3 times in a season, and almost beat them 1 or 2 times as well. If they beat Kansas in a close game, they would have been a 1 seed and everyone would be talking about how good they are. If their front court performs they have a very good shot at taking the whole tourney. They are also 5-0 vs teams in the top 25 who aren’t Kansas and had the 3rd hardest schedule while BYU was 2-2 vs teams in the top 25 and had the 73rd hardest schedule.

On paper it doesn’t look bad, but i don’t think BYU can compete. However, I wouldn’t completely discount an upset. I also have Cal over Louisville, but Louisville is extremely well coached so idk about that game. Their youth kills them though

quick question. To all the people with WVU over Kentucky: why?

i have wisc atm but that’s probably going to change. WVU has a court general in desean butler while UK has wall and cousins as their 2 star players. I want to see the desire from them to win a championship that WVU has. Idk if john wall and demarcus cousins are just showing what they got to NBA scouts or if they really have the heart to want to win the tourney. Having said that, player to player, i would take UK but i am really not sure.

I picked WVU over Kentucky because WVU’s experience > Kentucky’s Talent. I don’t think that UK is experienced enough to play a good team at a neutral court and win.

Cal plays in the Pac-10. Louisville plays in the Big East. 'Nuff said, and you can’t dismiss their two wins against Syracuse.

BYU is my sleeper team. They have a chance to play close to home in Salt Lake City if they can get to the sweet 16. I have them going to the Elite Eight if they can beat KState.

I kno srsly, Wisconsin will definitely beat both of them.

^ Sacrasm?

No, that’s not enough *ing said. OMG DEPAUKL IS IN TEH BIG EAST TEY MUST BE BETTESR TEN CAL. That would be *ing moronic. There’s a reason Louisville finished 6th. They finished *ing 6th for god’s sake. But since they beat Syracuse they must be teh *. Except that they lost to a bunch of other teams, including WCU and got run by Charlotte ****ing Charlotte!!

You can’t just evaluate a team based on the best team they’ve beaten and what conference they’re in. Two teams last year went 1-0 against UNC - both got upset in the first round (one of them to Cleveland St.). The year before, one team went 1-0 against Kansas –> 16 point blowout loss in the first round. In 2006, Tennessee beat Florida twice before narrowly surviving Winthrop and crashing out against Wichita St. In 2005, UNC was 0-1 against Wake Forest, but Chris Paul’s team got bounced in the 2nd round by a 7 seed. Even if Syracuse wins the national championship, and they probably won’t, beating them doesn’t make a team special.

I actually do have Wisconsin going to the Final Four. Like I said above (maybe) I haven’t watched much basketball this year, though in one of the few games I saw they were quite impressive. But I have Duke beating them in a rematch of that game. I was also tempted to pick BYU over Syracuse in Salt Lake City, but I wonder how many fans from the U would show up to root against them.

^This. UL would have won the Pac 10 tournament this year, dude. UL got a great draw to play Cal first round. That #8 seed for Cal is such a joke - they are a terrible team. DYK: Cal is 1-6 vs. Top 50 RPI teams. That’s awful!

Watch out for Florida State. They have the best defense in the nation - I can see them as a Sweet 16 sleeper.

And that’s why Louisville is 17 spots lower in the RPI?

Jeez, it’s not even a credible ranking system.

The Pac-10 doesn’t even have one ranked team. The Big East has five ranked teams, 3 of which are in the top 10. Playing and winning against Big East teams is more credible than winning in the Pac-10.

Nobody said that beating Syracuse makes Louisville, or anyother team, special. But you’re choosing Cal over Louisville, even though Cal got blown out by Syracuse and Louisville beat Syracuse twice. Think about that.
