So I signed up for the March SAT, but recently I was informed that my school district has a special offering of the SAT in April where they pay the registration fee and people can take the test at school for free. However, one is not allowed to take both March and April. I can cancel the March SAT and go with April or not go with April and take March, but I am not sure what I should do. If I go with April, I will have an extra month to prep, which sounds nice, however, I also want to find out my scores earlier and possibly have time for a retake in May if necessary. I'm not sure what I should do, should I take April and use that extra month for prep? I don't think I could retake in May if I do so, however. Or should I just go with March and then retake in May if necessary?

There is an april test?

It’s a special thing for my school district.

Are you sure? I have never heard of this.

Would you have to retake in May? Why not June?

If you can do June, April sounds better.

I think your school is hosting an SAT provided by Princeton Review. My school is doing that too. It doesn’t count, but is great practice I guess. It’s a great simulation for the June one. Do your April school one then go and do the real May one. That sounds like a good plan to me.

Absolutely positive it’s official, I have the official CB letter that tells me they’re refunding my March reg, the announcement by the principle, etc. etc. Regardless, what do you think I ought to do? I don’t want to take the SAT in June because I plan on taking subject tests in June.

I’m pretty sure that there’s no way your school district can have an official April administration.

april test? I’m pretty sure that what you’re talking about is a county wide Practice test, my county does those as well. They’re given annually and it’s free. However, those are not real tests. For a test to be valid it has to be administered worldwide.

The April test isn’t an actual test, there are no exceptions.

http://www.palmbeachschools.org/assessment/act_sat/sat_important_notice_to_principals.pdf

Maybe they’re using the march test…

That sounds fair.

At any rate, if you can believe this is legit, what is your advice?

If I were you, I would take it in April and sign up for the May test just in case I weren’t satisfied with my April score. This is for two reasons: one, I would get more time to study; and two, I could check the March answer lists in the slim hope that the test is the same as the March one.

Wouldn’t May registration be too late by the time April scores come back? Or do you mean to sign up for it regardless and then not show up for the date if I’m satisfied with April?

Money allowing, I meant the latter.

The April test is not a practice test. My daughter was registered for the March test and we received a letter in the mail form CollegeBoard stating that the test was being administered by her school district In April and that we would be refunded for the March test. I believe that it is the same test as the march test because the letter also stated that you cannot not take the March test as and the April test. It is one or the other. Mny, good luck to you!

Collegeboard refunds you (eventually) if you sign up but don’t show up. But regardless…given that this site - and others, I’m sure - consolidates answers so soon after the test, isn’t it hard to believe they’d reuse a test?

Well keep us posted if it ends up being the same test as the March SAT. If its the same test, I’m going to lmao at the incompetence of ETS/CB. But somehow I don’t think it’s going to be the same test. I think CB/ETS know about sites like these and they stand to lose far too much imo. I mean if they were the same tests, CB/ETS would just lose all credibility.
