I just saw my detailed score report online for my first time
SAT taken this March :o

1 wrong on the Math section and my scaled score is 780...

1) Is this normal scaling? on all the SAT prep books I have seen
CB, Barrons, PR this scaling seems skewed....

2) Is this kind of scaling just for the March test or can one expect to
see this in October as well?

3) Could some others please share how many wrong on their raw score and
equivalent scaled score from the March SAT and possibly October
SAT (if available)

it's all right, accept it, after all not a lot of 'smart' kids even can reach the 700 mark! Just don't be a perfectionist as I unintentionally try to be (which is painful to be frank!)

Yeah, I know what you mean about several 'smart' kids not being able to break 700 on the math. Some people in my school with significantly higher GPAs than myself are stuck in 500-600 land on the SAT math :P

does anyone know if the October SATs are curvewise more
forgiving :D typically than the March SATs (for CR and W if not
Math) ...?
( for example March does not include internationals and I am wondering if
there is sufficient skew from that)

are there any relative stats on October V November V December
curve breaks (CR or W sections)?

If I recall correctly I had one question wrong on my Math and got an 800 when I took it, so yeah, I think it depends on the class. But usually one question will dock you 20 points for Math, it has something to do with making the test a bit fairer when considering the final cumulative grade.

Actually reminds me. I took the SATs twice. Both time I got the exact same amount of questions right for each section but I ended up with a 1500 one time and a 1520 the other (of 1600). I think it had to do with this odd scaling thing.

Yea, I took the SAT I's in January. I got 1 wrong and i got a 780 too. I was pretty upset. I thought they'd at LEAST give me a 790. It's really messed up because I know people who took the SATs in different months and stil got away with an 800 with one wrong.

arwen, i stay away from october for several reasons. first, that's one of the only dates that early decision/early action students have before applications. so all of those crazed, college saavy students take the october SAT. second, the october SAT is a week before the PSAT, so then crazed Juniors rush to take the exam. all in all, october sat = look out!
